    Vette Brakes A-Arms

Chris, to answer your question, yes adding caster angle will move the wheel rearward. i would not drill the mounting brackets, it may weaken things a bit to much. it's been a couple years since i was in Houston, so i can't comment on the road conditions. in Alaska, we have some of the...

Damage Control: Finishing a rebuild, help me!

Andrew, don't get to worked up. first pull your spark plugs, it sounds like you are having to fight the compression to turn the motor. or your tranny is in gear and you're trying to turn the whole drivetrain. with the plugs out, you should not take anymore than 50 ft/lbs to turn the motor...

    Vette Brakes A-Arms

Chris, i went with the complete VB&P performance plus kit, it came with the new upper and lower a-arms. as for improvements, it is a completely new car! very stable, super responsive and a great ride. the only "side-effect" was i tend to hit corners at 20-30 mph more than i would have with...

    Starting Problems

you can test the ignition switch without pulling the collum apart. check to see if you are getting power to the starter solenoid with a volt meter. the little wire on the starter should see around 12 volts when you hit the key.

How to install Vette Brakes Spreader Bar in a C3

so what's the problem with that??? you don't need steering with the font end off the ground.

    Holley Vacuum Secondaries Won't Open

simple things first. have you hooked a vacuum guage up and drove down the road?? it is possible that the motor is not making enough vauum, or there is a vac leak, preventing things from working right. vac guages are cool tuning tools, highly suggest getting one if you don't already. double check...

    Tires

i'm running BFG radial TA's, 225/60R15's, all the way round and no rubbing problems. the wheels are 8" Centerlines with stock backspacing. i think any backspace besides stock will make the 255's rub, been a couple years since i researched it. Brian

Suspension Mods? and reninforcing frame mounts?

your stock a-arms are strong enough, no need to worry about them. the lower a-arm bracket welded to the frame is a major area of concern. they are notorious for **** poor welds. i had one that came completely off. the only thing holding it in place was the pressure of the car and the lip of the...

    Aftermarket Horsepower?

Stallion, engine horse power is not effected by gearing. gearing effects how the power is applied to the ground. if you are running a tall gear like a 3.08:1, the engine is loaded more in the lower rpm range. if you have a deep gear like 4.88:1, then the loading is moved up in the rpm range...

    Dream Engine

i am currently entertaining the idea of building an all aluminum 632 with 4-valve heads and turns 8000+ rpm. naturally aspirated 1000+ hp on pump gas should be fun, but not cheap. got to finish building the house first, but maybe next winter.

    Missing when accelerating

you may have loose power and tach wires going into the distributor. i have seen the spade connections come loose after time, especially if bubba has been playing with it. Brian

    Oil Leak Help

Mike, look at the back of your flywheel. if it is covered in oil, then you most likely have a rear main leaking or the oil gally plugs around the camshaft. if the flywheel is dry, then look to the valve covers and intake-to-block seal near the distributor. Brian

    20W-50 dino for stock '69 350 with 80K miles

i am behind John as well. run the lightest oil you can and still get good oil pressure, 10 psi per 100hp is a good rule of thumb. the lighter the oil the easier it is to turn a motor. dirty oil and/or low oil pressure kill engines. change it often and SE, SF, etc. are alright to run. as Cruizer...

    Modifications

i had to vote nothing stock, the body (minus hood) and interior are though. i don't have a rare car, it was already altered when i got it and you can't have the time of your life with 210hp. if you have a rare car that is worth money, by all means protect your investment. but if not, why not...

    Crate Engines

http://www.paceparts.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=132 you will find all of these motors are available at any GM dealer. they may have to order it as Heidi has stated, but it usually only takes a few days. the prices are subject to change, but i have found that most dealers will...

stalling problem with 72 stingray, need some help

i use my hand, your fuel should be close to ambient outside air temp. non-return line fuel pumps have an internal bleed. the bypass recirculates the fuel inside the pump. the fuel is heated from friction, pressure and engine oil as it is pumped across the bypass circuit. gasoline boils at a...

stalling problem with 72 stingray, need some help

electrical can be a pain to trouble shoot. intermittent shorts or opens will cause major headaches. what happens with some coils is temp related. if you have a micro-break in a wire, temp can open or close the gap. to quickly check for spark, unplug a plug wire and insert another plug into it...

    Install engine with muncie attached??

the only snag i can see you having is the crossmember. if i remember right, the manual tranny cars have a fixed crossmember and the autos have a removeable one. with the radiator out, you should be able to get the motor far enough forward to get the tailshaft up and over the x-member, then it's...

Couple of questions from a new vette owner...

Jeff, here is a link to production numbers for '77's. http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/specs/1977/77prod.html as for the water pump, Vettes came with the short pumps. if you are looking to repalce or swap to a different pully set-up you will need to go the short pump route. i have no...
