Someone told me I had a cool car.

I took my '85 out for a winter spin, and parked in a Mall lot. When I got back to my car, a 7(?) year old kid in the car next to me said that I had a 'cool car'. I almost flipped! Imagine an '85, still gets rants!! Great to leave an impression on a future corvette owner.:)

A Better View of Your Corvette's Uniqueness

I'm sorry '92 Yellow, but I don't think that your calculations are correct. For example: you stated that appx. 26% of coupes had black interiors, hence you applied that 26% to all Yellow coupes. The problem is that ALL yellow coupes could have been black, not only 26%, because the percent...

    1984 Corvette Pickup Truck

:puke :rA Corvette is a Corvette, and a pick-up truck is just a pick-up truck, they are worlds apart, and will never meet. Don't look at Porche or BMW, look at Ferrari and Lamborghini. To those Italians, it would be an abomination of a thing of beauty.

what makes a hotter (temp) interior?

Thank you all folks for your answers. I want to get a transparent roof, and now I know what season it would be best in. :w

what makes a hotter (temp) interior?

What would be more hot temperature wise. An all black Vette with solid color black roof or a black Vette with a transparent roof? I have an all black Vette, and was wondering if I got a transparent roof if it would make the interior more hot.

    How to upgrade 93-95 opti

I replaced my '93 with the 'converted' version. You have to use a '93 dist., newer years won't fit the cam, and a '96 cap. You have to modify the dist to attach a special GM part(?) that is an air purge system, about $12, which has 2 vac hoses coming out. 1 hose goes to your air intake, the...

optispark cap and rotor, whats up?

There has been so many articles on this-where to begin! Many people call it 'opti-crap'. I won't be rude but I had to replace mine on my '93. I did it myself after research, and the best article was in an issue of 'Corvette Fever' I think it was Feb. 01(not sure). The best thing to do, what I...

    2005 C6 & 2006 Z06 Steering Wheels

I think the steering wheel on the C6 is the ugliest thing on the car. It is too cheap looking: another GM blunder of 'robbing' parts from other divisions, or even Chevy to save a buck!! The steering wheel on the new Z06 is what the steering wheel is SUPPOSE to be on the new Corvette!!! I love...

    spare tire light?

I have an '85 that has a courtesy light which would illuminate the area around(under) the spare tire. It is really the coolest looking thing, illuminating the pavement under the car. I also have a '93 but that doesn't seem to have it, unless the bulb is out. The manual has no mention of it. When...

    Ages of c4 owners?

I'm 54 and I own 2 C4's. A '93 Ruby and an '85, just purchased in summer '04. If you want to do a tally, I was 49 when I bought my 'first', couldn't afford any before then, had to put 2 kids thru college. I won't be any richer, but I still dream of owning more Vettes.:)

    convertible question

I am interested in getting a C-4 Convert. The Mrs and I like to go away for a weakend now and then and I was wondering about the space or (ha, ha) lack of. When the top is up, can you fill up the well where the top would be when it is normally down. (can you use the whole 'well' area when the...

    How to determine uniqueness

EttevroC Good luck with the database, I'm sure we would all appreciate that kind of thing. If you look at the 40th Anniversary site they have a data base there well organized. They can even tell where the car made before and after yours was shipped to. They may have some key insights on how to...

    oil opinions

Your opinions please: I have 5-30W Mobil 1 in my '85. By the time May rolls around, I don't think I will have 800 miles on the oil. Would you people change over to 10-30W, (syn or dino) for the summer or just leave it until my regular change interval? I change oil every 2K. The '85 era models...

    Color of anniversary ZR-1

One more thing to look out for: I have seen pics in several books like "Corvette 50 Years" and others showing an Anniversary model that has the center stop light mounted on the roof(just above the rear hatch). I don't believe this is correct for '93, or IS it correct for a ZR-1 ?? Does your toy...

    How to determine uniqueness

I believe XLR's extrapolation was not correct. Here's why: If you say that 20% of all corvettes were painted white, and 60% of all corvettes had red interiors, the extrapolation example would say that of the 100% of white corvettes, 60% had red interiors. This is incorrect, because ANY...

    Driving Season....

I'm doin it, I'm using my Vette all winter! So far the experience is: at very low temp, like around 10 degrees or maybe anywhere under freezing the engine temp never goes above 164 degrees (this is an 85 with aux. oil cooler and using 5-30W Mobil 1). I don't think this this car will get hot that...

    OBD 1 Scanner

I bought my scanner at Sears, but that was years ago. Only about $30. It reads and gives you a number that you look up in service manual. I don't know if they still carry OBD 1 scanners. There is suppose to be another way to retrive codes: at any good auto store like Pep Boys or Auto Zone, there...

What's the fix for a rattling window?

I think it was posted here that there is a part # to replace the mechanism that holds the window. I have a rattle from my pass. side window and it is the only thing that rattles. Thanks for your help:w

What happened to our oil filters?

I think the L98 is going to be at least 25 years old in '05. I have an '85 which has the L98. When you really think about it, it's going to be 50 years old based on the small block from '55. I think that was the 283 cid?
