Just a thought, Your in Ga. in an emissions area if in metro Atlanta... But as your car is now 25 years old you no longer have to do emissions testing.

You need to just keep working with it, do not modify it. Yes it can be a real bear to get back in place. If I remember last one I did took 3 of us and we got the rear over the housing first than worked it forward pushing with a 2x4 from the rear.

If you take the two small torx screws out of the rocker panel just under the 3 larger ones to the side panel it will allow a bit of flex to the rocker to get at the lower 10mm you can not see.
