If the build date was late 80 could be GM had to use up the old stock of steel springs first. Would be a good ? to post to other 81 owners. Steve

I’m fairly sure 9 leaf would be standard as this is what my 77 has, but my memory is not what it used to be…Hopefully someone else will post in and confirm. Is it an early 81?

My 77 is standard and has a 9 leaf...I will look at the 82 its an FE7 but I'm fairly sure its a 7 leaf...I'll check when I get home

Yes all gymkana cars had the sway bar in the rear..How many leafs does your spring have? It should also have shorter larger diameter front springs and a larger front sway bar. If I am not mistaken the rear steel springs are 7 & 9 leaf.

I believe there is a resistor or filter that goes bad on the back of the tach..Anyway you will need to remove the cluster to have it fixed. Check on the ZR1 net they had an article about it. By the way had a 90 do the same thing...

Welcome... Reach up under from the front and pull down on the knuckle assembly. There is a ½ inch bolt for adjusting the close position on the knuckle just pull on it and it will unlock the joint and let them close. What year? you also have a bypass under the dash center of steering column.

Thanks for the info.. I found some pics from an 82 sales flyer..and it also shows the same. some of the plastic parts along with my seats look like they have faded to a silver look.. One day I will take it apart and redye everything.

Did the 82 CE steering wheel have sewn seems at all 3 spokes? Just got mine back from rewrap and never paid much notice before I sent it

Thanks for the welcome Nothing wrong with a CFI its just not many know how to set them up..I have had 3 84s with CFI and they all ran great. By the way love the sliver/claret my bud has a white/silver got it new in 82.
