    lt1 leaking radiator

I'm with Junk, don't use the stop leak. Changing the rad isn't a big job the worst part is burping the system when refilling it. I always use the GM pelletts too. Yea I know it's stop leak but the GM stuff never clogs anyting.

    Please GM, Fix the Corvette

I understand part of what he is saying. GM and most other Mfgs. have gone off the deep end with silly electronics that I don't want and refuse to pay for. A computer module for the SEATS .... why? HUDs are nice but why didn't you just make the dash readable in the first place. Climate controll...

Question: The best service manual for C3

#3 Corvette Assy. Manual. The others cover a wider range of chassis. If you can afford them, all 3 would make a nice set.

A plea to the knowledgeable: Conventional vs. Synthetics

Synthetics "leak" from old gaskets that didn't leak on dino oil because it penetrates better than dino oil. At 59 I'm old enough to remember the similar fight that went on about detergent oil VS non-detergent. How did that one work out for non-detergent oils? Ever seen non-detergent oil in a...

    Ideas for replacing leather seats?

Ask you upholstry shop about Ultraleather. Man made product but is as comfotable as real leather and wears like steel it's OEM covering in high end, private jets. A little more expensive than leather but worth it.

Question: Fuel filter to carb metal line replacement

While parts stores stock pre flaired tube, none will be the right length. It's just the way it works out. Like Tim said it's not a hard job to bend the line but it takes experiance and the right tools. The inexpensive, cast aluminum tube bender just won't cut it espically with 3/8 line as it is...

92 Convert fx3 shocks help needed

The coil overs are a conversion. OEM is a flat composite spring running across the car. Rear suspension uses the same style composite spring. Don't weld on shocks espically high pressure gas ones! Put it back stock or find out what suspension was used.

    Question: Rebuilding Lt1 ?

My son is going through this right now with his 93 and by the looks of things there is no "kit" available so the parts are being gathered the old fashion way, one at a time. Biggest problem right now are trying to find forged pistons in standard or .010 over. Cylinder bores still have the...

    Question: Suspicions? Suspicions?

When we lived in MD years ago it was law that old parts were returned to the customer. Most shops saved them to show the customer and it was then his/her choice to take them or have them thrown away. As a shop owner we always keep the old parts and let the customer decide as well as holding...

    alternator to battery

I'll add this, in mkapp's photo he shows the fuse links and they must be checked for power as well as by eye. Fuse links use a silicone based cover that will stand much higher temps than regular insulation. This is done to prevent the burnt wire from grounding out after the link has blown. Mnay...

    alternator to battery

Alternator wire goes to the starter where it is on the same teminal as the battery cable. No fuse link to alternator but it should have a fuse link between the starter terminal and main power lead to the fuse box. Unless you left the wire shorted out for quite a while, it should not have...

    looking for 87 parts

Look at that as a positive, you only need to do 1/2 of the job :-) Books first, that way you will understand how everything goes back in place. Since it's mostly exposed, now is the time to check all the wiring and connectors for damage and corrosion too. Look for screw ups by Mr. Alarm...

    looking for 87 parts

VettAid: Corvette Replacement Parts, Corvette Instruments, C4 Replacement Gauges, C4 Services Manuals has a nice replacement gage set for the problem child cluster and most of the Vette houses have carpeting w/wo noise backing as well as the boot. If your lid is just ugly, a upholstery shop can...

Should I Sell My 1977 Vette

If you are talking daily driver the new car may be better but to buy it and let it sit in the garage to become a "collector" car is a joke. Your Vette is trending back up slowly.

    Question: Detergent Oils??

Perhaps I don't understand the question but with Mobil 1 why would you need anything else? 93 w/103,000 90 ZR1 w/45,000 & 92 ZR1 w/86,000 and all are spotless inside.
