Nitrogen in corvette tires, good or bad?

Mercedes Benz and BMW strictly forbid it in their cars. Take it for what it's worth. I know some of each dealers insist on using it but the factories say no.

    Need some opinions please

Mikey's right, this would not be a nice street car. If you want to drive and enjoy this isn't the car for you.

    Grand Sport Battery charge duration?

You can get a Battery Tender that wires into the car or the one with the clips. Both can be left on indefinately w/o harm. You will drasticly reduce your alternator's life by jump starting the car and using the alternator to completely charge the battery.

    Where to buy EGR Valve

Do yourself a favor and get the right Delco for the car. I tried a "will fit" on another Chevy 350, it came with a bunch of little washers to set the orifice. After a week of fooling around with it I bought the correct Delco and all the problems went away.

newbie enjoying the site and has ZR-1 questions

You MUST start with the title questions first. A lot of people have put large sums of money into Vettes and other collector cars only to lose them to the original owners in court. That said, on an LT5 the fuel system is going to be the most important and most expensive system to clean and flush...

    Question: New Rotors??

I agree with Dave, also watch out for Made in China rotors with poor surface finish. China rotors also tend to have a lot of junk in the cast iron that result in "hard spots" inside the casting.

    Help! Headlight Motors Work Backwards

    '64 Stalls - Help please !

Well if you have fuel pressure, the bowls are full and it will run with an outside fuel source (the carb cleaner) there is nothing else it can be but the carb internaly. Maybe trash, gunk, dead bug (?) stuck in the jets? No one "tightened" the "loose" idle mix screws by accident did they?

Help! Have a bottoming out sound in my 66....

Check the bushing in the center of the rear axle. It absorbes axle wrap and will make a thump when the axle loads.

Grand Sport Can the rear window be tinted?

The lady that has done our cars for the last 15 years cringes when we bring a C4 in but has always done an excellent job.

    LT5 Motor Rebuild Costs

Just wondering, how many miles are on the car?

Question: How hard can it be? rebuild fuel pump?

It's not that hard IF you can find a rebuild kit. Rebuildable pumps went away long ago. I would be leary of "NOS" kits still out there as the parts are 20+ years old and may only function for a short while. A true rebuild/restoration shop will have new parts and can also repair/replace worn...

    Brake hose chaffing

92 ZR1, while changing out the master cylinder we found that Zs use a stainless steel flex hose that runs from the master to the block on the frame. The steel line connection you see when looking at the MC are just short U steel lines that connects to the SS braided ones underneath. On this car...

Question: Budget tires on a 1981

They are good to 100 mph and speed rating really has nothing to do with handleing although higher spped rated tires do tend to generate higher cornering force (G load). They are safe and inexpensive and todays cheap tires are lightyears ahead of the "high performance" tires we raced on in the...

    '64 Stalls - Help please !

Another thing to look for is vacuum leaks. With a big enough vac leak, the engine will act just like that. Check for open (unused) ports in the intake manifold, carb not sitting square and flat on manifold, badly leaking power brake booster (even if just replaced), stuck open PCV valve, etc.

    D@mn targa top!

SO Bay has a good idea. I just have a nasty feeling someone glued the weather stripping on/down and the glue is migrating in the summer heat. If it has been glued, I don't think you'll have much choice except replacement.

    D@mn targa top!

You do know the front of the roof needs to come up first then pull forward slightly. My 90's roof will not come off or go back on unless the car is dead nuts level but the 92's roof doesn't much care.

    Help! 94 Power Antenna Repair

If the plastic tape that runs the mast up & down broke, it's a fairly simple thing to fix and the kit comes with instructions. Once in a whiile the tape breaks way down it the motor and the assy. needs to come out but normally this doesn't happen. It will take two people, one to run the antenna...
