Nah- he's a wannabe ricer for sure. He added a body kit to his Corolla that he says is good for "prolly 50 horsepower". I wonder if his parents know that he's trolling CAC when he should be doing his homework.
I just recently took my baby out of storage after six years. So far, I've done...
flushed & changed coolant
changed oil
new air cleaner
four new VB&P calipers
stripped and polished 2 of the rims
rebuilt transmission
new valve cover gaskets
new center caps

I am beginning my research on a crate engine for my L81. It seems like everyone + dog builds small block Chevrolet motors. There is just so much information to parse through, and I don't know enough about the topic to know what I don't know. I'm looking for some advice.
I have a bone stock L81...
I think 500 ft-lbs would be enough to loosen any fastener. This is a long shot. Try heating up the fasteners with the torch, then soaking them in liquid wrench. Perhaps the oil will get pulled in as the metal cools.
How much torque does your impact wrench produce? If it's an electric one, you may need to rent a really strong air powered one and a compressor. Heat always helps. I've used those blue bottle torches on bolts before. All you can do is give it a try.
Remember to wear good leather welding...
Update
I drenched the fitting with liquid wrench, then hit it carefully with vice grips Saturday morning. A few hours later I had all the calipers installed and the system bled. I decided not to replace the line for now, but it's on the agenda.
However...
I took the car for its first extended...
Forgive my ignorance, but is that even an option? The steel lines seem like they were molded exactly to length. If I cut them, then they are going to be too short, aren't they? How could I pull this off, so to speak?
UPDATED: brake line rounded off
Well, I received my new brake kit from VB&P. I managed to change the front left caliper with no problems at all, but I've run into a big problem with the front right:the brake line fitting is rounded off. How do I loosen the fitting without making it any worse...
My suggestion for audio is to keep it as un-intrusive and invisible as possible. Buy a good set of 6x9 speakers and mount them in the stock ports in the back. Then get a good set of 4x6s and mount them in the stock ports in the dash. I've heard that the infinity reference models are good 6x9s...
I have not taken the calipers off to see whether they are lined, but I have every reason to believe that they are the original calipers without sleeves. Rebuilding them myself is more than I want to tackle. When things get down to a few thousandths of an inch, I find it's best left to the pros...
I'm in the process of getting my shark back to a daily driver after six years in the garage (I went back to school). Anyhow, the car has a leaky caliper and I'm looking at replacing everything with the VB&P o-ring calipers.
On the site, I can buy new calipers or re-manufactured calipers with or...
I suppose the unions brought down Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns, too!
In my experience, the people who bash the unions the most are those who have never been in a union. It is management's job to manage, and the workers' job to work. The managers are always there en masse, ensuring that the...
I think the design needs some smoothing out. The headlights and taillights look awful. I love the profile of the car and the high arches over the front wheels. I'm mixed on the split rear window. It looks nice, but I think it will be a royal pita to see out of.
