    Recall: 2011 - 2012 Corvette Coupes

I wanna make sure I got this right~ GM is putting out a recall to fix cars that haven't had a problem, right? I have yet to see any issues (or even speculation) on any of the forums I'm on, regarding this issue. (I'm on a few of them, too.) It seems to me that GM is taking care of the...

    Goodyear D3's for the C6

The Goodyears work ok, for the first 1500-1800 miles, then they become ice skates. If you have to drive in any wet conditions, try the Firestone wide oval RF's. They channel water a lot better than Goodyears via deeper tire grooves. Besides, the Firestones can be had for $1000/set. What's that...

    Question: rear end noise

Actually, during GM's "learning curve" on this, they tried to first replace just the fluid to no avail. Then, they tried new fluid with add'l friction modifier. That didn't work very well either. Then, they added 2 bottles of friction modifier to rear ends w/chatter. That worked! Then, GM had...

    Question: synthetic oil change intervals

Very good post, Hib. The only thing I might change is "acids are controlled by corrosion inhibiters." Actually, the acids (mostly caused by sulphur in the fuel) are neutralized by the alkalinity (potasium hydroxide) in the oil. (TAN or TBN) ASTM test # D664 or D974 are used for this...

Weird display in driver information center

Sounds like a button is either hung up or the contacts are making inadvertant contact every so often. If this occurs only after 30 minutes of driving, then maybe heat related?

Help! Outside tire wear excessive on all fours.

Excellent tire (since you're in Minnesoooota.):L You could but it would create a big bunch of headaches, and you'd gain nothing. This would be the least of your problems. Would this be worth sacrificing your warranty?

LS7 Option In A Grand Sport?

Until you try to track it, then you'll discover no track will allow you to run unless you fit a roll cage. Suddenly, you realize having an LS7 in a roadster isn't such a hot setup...:ugh

    air pressure sensor problem

The range for TPMS is 24PSI to 42PSI. If your pressures go above or below those thresholds, then you car will go into "ACTIVE HANDLING ACTIVATED" mode. The car won't allow you to do certain things (such as try to pull 1G laterally in a turn.) Individual braking can and will like occur. One of...

Question: Adjustable Clutch Master Cylinder Z06?

Ok, road racing @ Summit Point! Well, let's see. Here's a list for road race work: 1. Corner balanced with track alignment 2. 18" wheels with track rubber 3. Keep an eye on your brake rotors (cracking eminating from the outermost holes.) 4. Brake pads (there's tons of 'em!) 5. Replace...

    Electrical Gremlins

Tuna, you may have to replace all the modules at the same time. This way, any modules that are corrupt, can not effect healthy modules. This is like a "flood" car, it seems. Hope you get it working soon. (If you car takes a HUGE VOLTAGE SURGE again, you gotta rename your car "Lee Trevino!"):chuckle

    07 convertible top problem

If the car is still "under full 3/36 warranty" then it's covered (even if you're not!) What's "in rig." vs. "out of rig?" Why do you only have 1 post?:eyerole

Help! Outside tire wear excessive on all fours.

How did you get Z51 tires to last 14,000 miles? I've never heard of such an accomplishment. If your tires are wearing on the outside (or inside) then that's a camber issue. There is tons of "leway" in the GM alignment spec. Since you don't do any "performance" driving, you might as well save...

High Beams OK but no low beams

Both lights at the same time? Hmmm...ground?

    c6 clutch

What you speak of here is true, Paul. However, doing the "syringe the M/C and fill with fresh fluid" doesn't hurt, AND it causes the owner to inspect other things whilst there. This, I feel, is a good thing. It only puts off the inevitable (wear to failure) but it does seem to help. (It's been...

    Closing trunk

I just checked with a friend who has a 2006 3LT vert. He does not have the "latch pulldown" feature. Is it available in more recent model year verts? I think it became an option on the Z06 in 2008MY. My 2006 doesn't have it.

    Spare Fob Transmitter

The distance is based upon the FOB battery strength. (Also walls or other barriers.) We first tested FOB signal strength back in early 2006 with various Corvettes. We found a FOB w/a new battery could send a signal, recognized by the car from 40' away. This was "line of sight" but it was still...

    Spare Fob Transmitter

The only way I know of to "disable" the FOB would be to remove the battery.

SOLD!!! 2009 Callaway Z06 JS Blue 2000 miles

I bet he'd jump at the chance to sell his 2009 Z06 for 65K! Hell, I would too as the car is worth 52K and dropping ...:L Hey, I'm desperate for money so I'll sell my 2006 Z06 for 60K! Any suckers....I mean takers?;LOL *(It's one of 282, ya know that makes it worth more!):chuckle

Question: Adjustable Clutch Master Cylinder Z06?

I think you found the real reason why the car is in the condition it is. Replace it with a stock unit as they're the most trouble free. Thank you for understanding that the Corvette (nor any other car) is designed to perform, "Burnouts." The car dosen't really need any power adders in stock...

    Roof

My roof was replaced via recall for 2006 MY cars. OP~ there may be a TSB or something on the flying roof recall. Granted, your issue was latches and I don't know if there's a TSB/recall for the latches. Be sure to keep them lubricated.
