That one sold for $123 plus shipping. Jeff at Elite Engineering will send you a brand new one for $135. :)

    Gas prices

Wow! Gas dropped 20 cents Monday: $2.02 for regular and $2.22 for premium, a couple of premium brands. Last week I paid $2.43 for premium. Now, I bet it goes back up by 30 cents or more next week..:cry

    C-4 tires

I have been really happy with Firestone Firehawks. Much smoother, much quieter, but not as good as GSCs in cornering. They smooth out quickly after the car has not moved for a couple of months in the winter.

    Braided Brake Lines

So, what is the fix? :confused

Finally - new C5 Signal Mirrors available!

Don't know when they became available, but the self-dimming mirrors are an option that were also included in a package of popular convenience options. They are wonderful, especially when a tall SUV with HIDs is behind you! Those turn lights are sharp but I sure would not give up my mirror...just...

Finally - new C5 Signal Mirrors available!

Really neat.... but will they work on the self diming mirror? (Which is the best thing since sliced bead!!)

    I Miss (Driving) My C5

In the South, it's not a question of IF you can drive the Vette... The only question is if you can drive with the top off ! :D

    Convertible, Targa, Z06, Z51

A convertible with a lift off fiberglass roof was my no. 1 choice, but there is too great a loss of luggage space. That is going to be more and more important as our trips will, hopefully, get longer. The coupe has a ton of room! After the rough riding C4 I wanted the soft ride suspension and...

    K40

I would not think about driving the Vette without a radar detector!! My state is crawling with Smokies--county mounties, locals, and state troopers-- using radar guns. Learn to read it and the Bel 980 will give you plenty of slow-down room even at Corvette cruise speed. Laser is not in...

    Z51?

There should be a sticker on the inside of the glove box door listing every item on the car in alpha-numeric form: X00, Z51, etc. A search will turn up the codes.

    advice & ideas for luggage

The Redneck's dilemma when packing: paper or plastic! Check eBay. I've nailed a couple of the quite expensive embroided C5 logo leather duffles at very attractive (i.e.: cheap!) bids. They are very sharp. I tried to attach a photo, but I have never managed to get it right...

FINALLY... I'M AMONGST THE CORVETTE COMMUNITY WITH MY "BABY"!!

Good decision: long range it's always better to have the last of a generation instead of the first year or two of a new model. It sure took GM a long time to get the bugs out of the the C4...and actually they never really got 'um all. It will be interesting to see the expensive failures in the...

    Lifting a C-4

Just watch the guys with adjustable arm hosts. Make sure they don't set the lift pad under the floor pan...that causes major damage!!

    Insurance cost's for a C4?????????????

Ouch!!! $638 a year, 100/75/100, 500 deductibe ($100 on glass and vandalism) with no mileage restrictions. Move to the country man, and insure with Farm Bureau!! The C5 is going to be $30 higher, same policy.

what makes a hotter (temp) interior?

Sure: real cheap at MidAmerica Direct--the plastic cling liner, that is!! It really will cut the interior temp by a bunch. I leave it in the C4 throughout July and August to make the heat tolerable.

    Tried Nighthawks?

Has anyone tried the GE Nighthawk headlights? The package marketing hipe promises they are the brighest, best, longest reaching available... Anyone tried them to see how they compare to Silverstars? I put Silverstars in the C4 and was very unimpressed--not worth the effort.

    Just Got mine

If you do have to replace the Opti-Spark, C4 guru Gordon Killebrew says to run a thick bead of RV sealer around the Opti where it touches the block to keep moisture out, and install the upgrade kit. The 95-96 is much improved. I have driven many miles in monsoon-like rains and washed the engine...

    Moving up to C-5

Better jump on it! Great price and unreal trade-in value this time of year. You won't believe the difference in the C4 and C5...

    Went topless today!

What a way to begin the year. New Year's Day was 70 degrees and sunny in West Tennessee. Popped the top and rode for a while. Today is a bummer, the first of six days of rain, rain, rain. Popped a (different) top and went back to the garage to wax some more.

    Weatherstrip replacement

Can't offer opinion on contemporarycorvette.con, but I bought some from www.weatherstripspecial.com. The door and windshield header weatherstrips were equal in quality to the GM roof strip I paid double for. There is a major difference in the targa top windows weatherstrips and I would get them...
