On the 1980 it has four little bolts that go into the tranny tunnel on the floor. I think the cable has a C clip that needs to be removed. If you go that far you may as well change the shift cable.
I ordered their brake kit back in 1997, I have not had a problem with them. Just don't use the organic pads that come with the kit. They do not stop well.
I drove it like that for a while. It wasnt too smart. If I had known about the steeroids I would have done it. The C3 steering isnt that great to begin with. I replaced every thing from tire to tire, rag joint and steering box. I STILL HAVE PLAY.
I once went for a ride in a 2000 coupe 6spd with NOS. This car was sick. I never paid attention to the speedo because I was to busy hanging on for dear life. The owner later showed me a time slip from a track. He had ran a 11.8 thats with out any mods xcept for the NOS.
