I don't know how I missed this thread, so I bumped up Silver Blue by one more. I first priced out a Sebring Silver Z06 coupe, but wanted a convertible, so I ordered Daytona Blue which was written up on the handwritten order. I saw a picture of a Silver Blue convert on the cover of Car and Driver...

Several years ago I used the approach below when buying a Corvette that had been dismantled by someone else.
Using restoration catalogs I made a list of all of the different parts (front and rear suspension, driveline, headlights and electrical, dash and interior) that I would need to...

Congrats on your award, and thanks for the pictures. I especially enjoy the pictures of the racecars. I've gotta see that race someday. Monterey this past year, maybe Watkins Glenn next. :)
Thanks again

I bought the cell with the sender already installed and the Fuel guage from the same place. I've looked at the instructions for the guage and it doesn't indicate what Ohms it is.
I checked the Fuel Safe site and it says to specify what Ohm guage you are using when you order the...

I've looked for my Fuel Safe info and found that it is an Enduro, ED122B. The size is 25" in length, 17" width and a height of 13 1/2". Go here for more detail on Fuel Safe. http://www.fuelsafe.com/pdf/Road%20Racing.pdf
You need to measure the distance from the rear compartment to the...

I'll try to find the measurements and post them when I can. You can't see the fuel cell from the rear, but that might be because I have a rolled pan that may extend lower than the stock valance. See rear view here:

Here is a picture taken from right behind the passenger tire. I kinda wish I had made it lower, but that could still be done by changing the brackets a bit.
I welded brackets to the differential cross member and the rear frame. There is an angle iron cage around the metal encasement of...
Looks good Norval.
For another approach to the problem here is a picture of how Yenko put a rear bar on the wide-body Corvette he raced in the 1975 24 hours of Daytona. View is from the drivers side.

I put one in a 68 racecar but it doesn't have a spare so that may be a problem for a street car. I put a 22 gallon Fuel Safe in and the fill hole is in the correct place. They have several different sizes so you will need to do some measuring of the space you have. Sorry I don't have...

While I had the spindles out of my daughter's car, I had them put on a lathe and checked the runout. All it took was just a very slight trim to get them true. Of course you need to have the lug bolts out. Probably doesn't hurt to get new ones anyway.

I've purchased timken wheel bearings at my local Autozone. The spindle knocker that screws on the end of the spindle is the approach that I've used to knock the spindle out. DON'T hammer on the end of the spindle!! If you purchase the setup tool for your mechanic and use the directions...
I'm afraid that I will miss the Limerock vintage races, but for Tom's (and others) viewing pleasure here is a picture from the Monterey Historics special presentation of Chapparals.

WilkinshcThe body lift straps that I have used and seen are too long unless you have a very high ceiling. I have a low ceiling For my current body-off so I used some straps that just had hooks on one end that would work like the ones on the lift strap kit.
I put rachets on the other ends of...

I'm looking forward to seeing your 63 coupe progression.
Vanity Plate Bob,
There was a time when 6 taillights were so popular that some thought it really was an option. Only available in California. :)

I'm with you stepinwolf!!! As you can tell from my picture. :) I used to have the car judged and fairly successfully until restorations became such a work of art that my individuallity became a no-no.

I used a steam cleaner to clean the years of collected crud from under car. (See Picture). There was also lots of undercoat under each fenderwell and I used a heat gun to soften it up.
I put one hand on the opposite side of where I was directing the heat and then took the gun away when it was...
