    Question: Crate engine advice

Don't forget, with more go power comes the need for more stopping power. When I put in the ZZ383 I drove the car for a few months, took it back to the shop and upgraded my non-power standard brakes (they were stainless calipers) to power with Hawk pads because the car just couldn't stop well...

    Question: Crate engine advice

We tried the pullies from my L48 on the ZZ383, they wouldn't keep the belts on when I let out the 460lbs of torque. They were changed out with deep groove pullies. Your car may already have them. For me, my Vette is a permanent fixture so I have to be rational and keep it simple. Many of...

    Question: Crate engine advice

I think the LS3 is going to run you plenty more than $1,500 extra, it's not a drop it in a go situation. I was first looking at putting in an LS2 and it didn't seem worth the effort or $. The ZZ383 or the ZZ4 is quick, clean and easy. I don't know what carb is on your car, but my stock carb...

    Question: Crate engine advice

GM ZZ383 installed in my '69. Works nice with the GM aluminum intake, I think the owners book says I make 10 less horsepower using this manifold than the 425HP it's rated at, a small sacrifice to keep the original hood. At a glance, the only obvious not GM items are the Thorley headers. I've...

    What do 75 Vettes average?

I watched a super nice 75 Orange T-top Automatic AC, windows, tilt PS, PB etc... go off at auction last week for $13,400. 60k miles that looked real, repainted but needed to be color sanded, fiberglass bumpers and really, really clean and original in appearance, underneath and under the hood...

    Differential question

My L48 (with no smog stuff) wouldn't spin my Eagle GT's. I have a 3.08 diff. I don't blame the rear end...

Vacuum holding tank leaking 1969 L48 car

I'm in So Cal, so it's probably a leak on the seam not a rust hole. I'll see if I can figure out how to put in some pressure, spray on some windex and look for some suds, but half of that can can't be seen the way it's stuffed in there. It's certainly worth a try. I've done Bubba repairs on my...

Vacuum holding tank leaking 1969 L48 car

I'm hoping that someone here has done a bypass with a different tank. Taking that thing in and out is no 30 minute job, there's a bunch in the way that has to come out to squeeze that out of there. I could live with a softball sized one hidden out of sight for now, that's kind of what I was...

Vacuum holding tank leaking 1969 L48 car

My vacuum holding tank is now leaking. That thing appears to be a pain in the A#@ to get out. I bypassed it for now, but every time I start the car my head lights open then close about 10 seconds later. Any easy fix or temporary fixes out there? I don't have time to pull that can out...

A ride around the block in my C3 LS conversion.

This is a total hijack! Someone here should be banned for this! I thought weight was redistributed (motor moved back) etc... I don't recall the "swinging dumbell" effect in the newer cars. Eitherway, the OP's car looks and sounds great.

You don't have an early C3, I seem to recall the later cars handling much better than my pig.

Even if you have good rubber on an early C3, it's just not a good idea to be going fast in the corners! :ohnoes LOL

Those wheels look great on that car! What are they? American Racing? I need a set of those! (My Cadillac creaks from the rear bushings. LOL)

    engine swap

Look at the ZZ383, more power and lots less hassle. Big Block power, Small Block weight. Actually, it's lighter than my L48 was with it's aluminum heads, intake etc... I have an LS6 and a ZZ383. Either way you can't go wrong.
