The reason that the Z06 does not come with run-craps is performance & handling. The run-craps are noisy, and do not offer the performance in dry & wet traction that a non-runflat offers. I got Michelin Pilot Sports and now carry a plug kit, small compressor and AAA card just in case. Ever hear...
It's pretty normal in a C5. The cats are below the center console. I installed a Koolmat heat shield under the tunnel cover and used Reflectix to insulate under the console
Stock tire size on the stock wheel size. You can get Z06 wheel sizes in 17 x 9.5 or 18 x 9.5 front and 18 x 10.5 rear and then go with 275 x 40 x 17 or 275 x 35 x 18 front and 295 x 30 x 18 rears. I switched my run-craps to 18's with Michelin Pilot Sports. Much quieter and better wet & dry...
I run 18 x 9 1/2 up front with 265x35x18 and 18 x 10 1/2 in the rears with 295x35x18. You should be able to run 19 x 10 1/2 rears with 295x30x19. Doubt that any runflats come in those sizes.
I changed the oil after 1,000 miles break-in period when my car was new. Now I change with Mobil 1 every 5,000 miles, the same time I change my S/C synthetic oil.
Beware ..mod fever is a real sickness. The Imola's are sweet, I saw some down at the shop yesterday. Terry & Mark rock!! Take it to Mark for the alignment.
I do not feel that the Z51 suspension is really harsh. My 02 vert started life with the FE1 base suspension. I was not really happy with the body roll so I installed Z06 sway bars. This took care of the body roll but the car still felt floaty at high speeds. My 2nd round mods included Z51...
Fun Fun Fun.. For a more reliable S/C look into the Magnuson roots style blower. It offers better low end torque than the centrificals but you will have to replace the hood. The centrificals offer higher RWHP potential at the risk of reliability. You will start breaking stock engine and...
I also have an 02 vert that started life with the base (FE1) suspension. I first changed the to Z06 sway bars which greatly reduced body roll but did not address the floaty feeling. The 2nd round I changed to used Z51 springs, added Bilstein Sport Shocks, and lowered approx 1". This greatly...
