Road & Track Printed My Email

Not quite racing tyres but just about as close as you will get on a road car and used by a lot of track day specials. Yokohama A048's available in various sizes upto 18". The Lotus comes with 195/50/16 front and 225/45/17 rears.

Road & Track Printed My Email

:D My 81 has probably in excess of 400hp but it was a particularly twisty road used a lot by motorbikes for a Sunday afternoon thrash and I just could not get past him, the route is over the North Yorkshire Moores between Middlesborough and Helmsley and is about 30 miles from town to town. I...

Road & Track Printed My Email

It's a pity they changed your words but not to get away from the subject and being a Brit i have to stick up for the Lotus :L I am not sure it's a fair comparison but they are superb little cars. The original ones from the 60' were Elans, my friend has a 65 with an original Lotus Twin Cam...

Got bent over at the pump tonight

Not so bad, petrol was only pennies a gallon, Vettes everywhere, wall to wall sunshine, some of the most impresive hotels in the world, you can buy booze, vitually no crime whatsoever and the Gulf Air and Emirate trolly dolly's are all big honey blondes :D J.

:L I will be my usual diplomatic self and say I am first Scottish, second British and lastly European. I have heard New Zealand is a beautifull country one of the few I havn't visited. J.

Don't worry, there is at least one person here who understands your English sence of humour, even if I am Scottish :L J.

    C6-Front Plate mandatory in California?

It will be interesting to see how the European model deals with it as front plates are not only manatory but much larger than yours. Up untill very recently in the UK the only way was to use a motorcycle plate with sqeezed up 50mm digits instead of the standard car size of 80mm and there is also...

    GM buying back C4's!!!????

A bit off topic Rain, how many years was the aqua colour available ?? when I bought my 81 I almost bought an aqua 6 spd vert which was what I originally went to have a look at only to end up buying the 81 instead. I cant remember the year though, from memory maybe a 92 or 93. J

    GM buying back C4's!!!????

Not just GM, I had a similar letter/phone call recently about my MG. Seems to me they are popular second hand buys so the dealer can shift it and make a bit of cash in the process with a fair chance I will be tempted into buying a new one or in the Vettes case maybe the dealer had a request from...

    No Spark

Over the years and many cars with HEI`s the most common fault I found for no spark is the small carbon rod which contacts the brass strip on the rotor arm gets worn away or better described as burnt away ???. I would check that first before replacing anything. Not sure if you can buy them...

    Too much cam...too little vacumn....

I had a similar set up and was running the Performer RPM cam and dispite what the Edelbrock guy told me on the street it was a dog to drive, completely destoyed the clutch and was useless anywhere except on a wide open road where you could keep the rpm up above 3,000 or at the track where you...

    C6 Corvette at the Dragstrip!

I am a bit surprised by some of the venomous comments towards us Brits (Mr Halverson for one, a man of some questionable literary talent but obviously not much else) I don't agree with the some of the comments regarding the review of the C6 but not withstanding Jeremy Clarcksons comments the...

    C6 Corvette at the Dragstrip!

What you should know is that Mr Clarkson, big guy in the pink shirt, hates Corvettes and once blew up a C4 with a helicopter gunship on one of his videos. In some ways towards the end of the tape the small guy was reasonably complimentary although he did maybe overstate it`s shortcomings a...

    Transaxles

Don't know what your interest in this is or if you are actually trying to buy one but have a look at this site. Hewland are probably one of the best and were used extensively in motor sport including Formula One for years. Not sure if they were ever used in any road going cars though...

    Ken's Engine Project... Part V - 2004

Hi Ken, Once you get fed up messing about with you FI set up just pop into Moon on Norwalk, the have a 4 weber set-up ready to go sitting on the counter, looks good as well although theirs isn`t polished. BTW, I have been at Ruby`s the last two Fridays allbeit a bit later and hopefully if I...

    Thermostat poll, 160 vs 180

I have read several comments that low engine temps dramatically increase wear. What you need is your engine at a nice steady temp and you air and fuel mixture to be as cold as possible. Here is only one small write up I found which probably is not very technical but if you search around you will...

    Edelbrock manifold/Stock Hood??

I have the AirGap intake and matching carb on my 81 and did originally manage to get the hood closed with a drop base and a very thin filter but it just didn`t go well, in my case it was just to thin. and the engine could`t get enough air. Surprisingly it was loosing about 20hp when it was on...
