Gear driven cams have been used in all sorts of road going cars and bikes over the years. The only problem in my case is the noise, if I had opted for the quiet gears no one ould have been any the wiser. Up until very recently Honda VFR motorbikes all had geardriven cams and the picture below is...
Hi
If you are really set on using the original valve covers you can buy spacers which will give you the clearence for the roller rockers and retain the stock look. I vaugely remember seeing them in a Jegs catalog some time ago.
Like Scott I eventually decided to go with Edelbrock but have kept...
Hi
Have a listen to the other end !!
Other End Please
I can understand people`s dislike of the gear drives but in my imho it is the best piece of kit for the job, especially a high reving small block like mine. I have commented on this topic in several other posts so if you do a search it...
Chris,
Are the electical motors an American made part or do you think it is something I could get over here in England ??? I have a 4-axis CNC HAAS milling machine in my workshop so making any brackets would be straight forward for me. If so I would be interested in a set of plans. Maybe I...
Interesing topic, I have given my Vette some serious abuse at the track and the only thing that gave up on me was a clutch. That being said I don`t have the power some of you guys have but it always on my mind that I am sitting on top of a shaft that could come though the floor. I have seen a...

There are differing opinions on the geardrive, I went with it because I have had some bad experiences with belts snapping and doing considerable damage to valves, heads & pistons in two previous cars I owned. Chains are imho not much better, they can also snap, although the most common...
I ran my 81 for a summer with no mufflers at all just the straight through true dual pipes. Between that and the PJ gear drive it was loud !!!, I`m surprised I got away with it without any attention from the local constabulary. The other thing it did was severly p**s of my neighbours. However...

As far as I am aware it is the original "bonnet" . I had to cut the hole in it because it wouldn`t shut after I was finished rebuilding the engine.

I run my car with no mechanical fan and have the original electric fan hooked up to a switch inside and it works ok for me with no overheating problems I only need to use it in traffic or if I`m sitting at the lights. I have also been having a look at and electric water pump which would...

If you really want to use the Crane cam and can`t get it over here just give Summit or Jegs a ring and get it sent over. I have used both and had no problem with either. Jegs sent some parts in two days delivered right to my desk here in Newcastle. Even paying the airfreight was only $40...
Hi
Bentley were using superchargers driven of the crank in the 30`s and I believe that Mercedes also had a similar set up. If you have space in front of the engine it will work. I saw a plain jane SAAB 900 at a recent race meeting which pulled a 9 second run. I wondered round to the pits to...

I am surprised at your comments Direct Injection petrol cars are currently available in the UK from Mitsubushi for one, they meet all current European emission regs and give near diesel fuel economy, as legislation has tightened in Europe most manufactures no longer make cars...
In one article I read a K&N gave about 3-5hp over the standard paper filter and in one case a filter of a similar construction to K&N by another manufacturer actually decreased the horsepower by a small amount over the original paper element.
I have used K&N`s on many cars mainly because they...
There is nothing basically wrong with throttle body injection, it was used on a lot of European and Japanese cars when fuel injection started to take off. It is not the most efficient method of delivering fuel but better than a carb as the mixture is controlled by a computer hence it should be...
I stuck with the trusty BFG`s on mine, good life and reasonable grip in the dry, scary in the wet !!! I had the chance of some nice 17" billet Centrelines some time ago from a friend who was selling his Vette but they just didn`t look right, to much wheel not enough tyre. I had Futura tyres on a...
Hello
Here is an interesting short write-up on rod length/angles, not wanting to take anything away from this forum but you will find some interesting tech articles and posts in the performance section of www.ChevyTalk.com
Obviously I can`t vouch for the correctness of any of the articles but...
Have you had the wheels and tyres checked yet, it would be the first I would check out, exhasts can give problems particularly stainless ones which tend to resonate more than mild steel but I doubt if this would be noticable as a vibration as you drive.

Quickjagg,
I am in England so the price here is grossely inflated and will be nowhere near what you would be able to buy them for. If you call a parts supplier here and say Corvette in the opening sentence he doubles the price and then adds some extra just for good measure. We also pay 17.5%...
