    NOS System in '82?

Page62, Systems are available for fuel injected cars and it will be possible to plumb a line from the existing fuel pipes to the petrol solanoide, if any thing it will be an advantage as it already has a reasonably high pressure system. The downfall of a lot of NOS instalations that I have...

    NOS System in '82?

I know of Real Steel and have visited before with a mate who bought a gearbox from them for his Trans-Am. Thanks though, the nitrous is a relatively cheap way to a couple of hundred horse power provided the bottom of your engine is ok so I have been thinking about it. The Air Gap intake I have...

    NOS System in '82?

Hi Zektor, Where do you buy your bits from, I`m ready to spend some more and get mine sorted so it will definately be back out on the road early next year and also thought about nitrous as a cheap power adder. Is it an ajustable kit or a fixed 50hp set-up. Cheers J.

    0-60mph any tips?

MoeJr is right on the mark, in it`s original incarnation with a mild Crane cam and a few bit`s and `pieces my car had just over 200rwhp which was propably about 250 or so in the engine and ran a best of 14.8 in the quarter. I would expect an auto with a standard converter to be a shade slower...

    0-60mph any tips?

I wouldn`t try that you might end up wearing transmission parts. J.

    0-60mph any tips?

If you just stick it in drive and accellerate hard the auto box will change up reasonably quickly and not allow the most from the engine. If you can, start in first and manually shift to second. For a 0-60 sprint in a car with a 3.08 it will only take two gears. Try a few different take off...

    Need Clutch Repl. Advice....

You have a garage that is big enough and tall enough for a lift. :eek I have to leave one of the roof panels off my car to be able to climb in and out of it in my garage. The lift belongs to a friend and I can have the use of it. A handy tool. That`s what I like about America - everthing is...

    Need Clutch Repl. Advice....

Hi, Just a quick comment, I don`t know if you already have a clutch but you should give some consideration to what type you buy. When mine needed replacing I was talked into a fancy twin plate set up, it looks the part, cost plenty but ultimately useless for the street, stick with a good...

    81 exhaust question

If you plan on keeping the car for a long time and during that time you store it a lot then the stainless is worth the extra. The aluminised exhausts have a reasonable life span but only if the car is used on a regular basis. The only thing to watch out for is that there are some cheap low grade...

    Thinking about selling

With one thing and an other I havn`t used my Vette at all this year and it crossed my mind to sell but as the say "absence makes the heart grow fonder" J.

    Dyno Tests?

Here`s the ticket from the last two runs. As you can see he just gives it a bit in the first three gears and then nails it in fourth. This is with the old engine and it topped out at just over 200 rwhp but the wheels were still slipping a bit on the rollers. J.

    Dyno Tests?

In it`s original icarnation I took my Vette to the local dyno for a run and it cost me about £25 ($40) to watch a mechanic thrash the living daylights out of it. For that I got four runs and on the last run after wheel spin problems he had another two of his tech guys sitting on the rear deck to...

Putting in a new Camshaft...any warnings, words of wisdom etc...

Hi SS Looks like your girl is doing a good job there !!! T-Shirt`s in November as well, I have already been scrapping ice a couple of mornings and my garage is like an icebox there won`t be any work done on my Vette untill about March next year. We have an office in Houston I must enquire...

Putting in a new Camshaft...any warnings, words of wisdom etc...

SS Chevy High Performance ran a test on 65 different cylinderheads with some interesting comments on head selection for various applications. It is worth a read. CHP Head Test Re the cars, I have had numerous American cars over the years but eventually saw the light, mortgaged the house and...

Putting in a new Camshaft...any warnings, words of wisdom etc...

SS Here are a couple of old grainy pics I found, hardly surprising my neighbours were upset and suspisious all in the same week, the blue Turbo T/A was my sisters husbands car but I eventually bought it from him, the white 79 actually had an early 327 vette engine which was fitted after the...

Putting in a new Camshaft...any warnings, words of wisdom etc...

Hey SS Don`t worry I have been reported to almost everybody that is anybody by my nieghbours. At one time I was into big Caddy`s and had three in a row, one of which was a flouresent pink 70`s Coupe DeVille, hidious by anyones standards but at the time it appealed to my sence of humour, one of...

Optional tire size for 82... will they fit?

Hi Jim I have no clearance problems with 295/50`s on the rear even fully loaded with a full tank of gas and a bit of scary driving they don`t rub or catch the fender, they don`t stick out either, in fact they are a perfect fit. They list the 295 as being suitable for an 8 to 10 inch rim. The...

Optional tire size for 82... will they fit?

It depends on your preference but the 255/60`s were available as an option and would be fitted to all four corners. I had an 80 which had this size all round on the original alloys and it looked fine. I have 255/60`s on the front of my 81 and have no rubbing problems. J.

    Hot 79

If you have checked everything else out go with Mako`s tip and get the timing checked out it is usually the culprit if all else is ok. I run mine with no mechanical fan at all relying only on the original electric fan and have no problems. If you can borrow a Mityvac from some one that has the...

Putting in a new Camshaft...any warnings, words of wisdom etc...

Think yourself reasonably lucky, when I bought all the bits for my engine I had to pay in pounds sterling what you pay in dollars. That roughly works out at your dollar price x 1.5 then 17.5% in tax on top of the final number. :cry The kit although initially looking expensive is a good deal...
