Sensei, From the story, it sounds like you certainly have great throttle response in your car! Thanks for the information, I'll be working this carb for this engine, like you I belive it's a very good piece of engineering and very capable. Thanks again.

Those with Modified Engines and Original Carb

Since I'm still going to run the computer, there shouldn't it would seem there shouldn't be a problem. I've not worked an E4ME carb before (I have done some work, just rebuilds and repair, on regular Qjets though), and could sure use your help since you seem to have been into them a bunch! For...

Those with Modified Engines and Original Carb

I have a BB I'm putting in my 81 about to come back from the machine shop. All the specs show a 750CFM carb would be a great choice so I thought I'd use the original carb on the new engine if it made sense. Obviously it's going to need some work to support the engine. I've got a 402 bored .30...

    wheel squeal

If the squeal is actually coming from a front wheel, first thing I'd check is brake pads followed closely by wheel bearings. If it's from the rear, u-joints are the most likely issue again followed by wheel bearings.

    help ID these pistons

I looked it up because I didn't know.... As information, hypereutectic pistons are aluminum with silicon added to make the alloy more stable with regard to expansion. Hypereutectic means there was as much silicon added to the aluminum that can be and still have it join with the aluminum...

News: GM's Henderson: Corvette's future is secure

Well, the current administration basically demanded the GM CEO step down (should have been a board decision), and look at the so called deal for Chrysler....are you kidding?? The UAW gets controlling interest??? And this from a guy who never worked in the private sector EVER. I'm not...

News: GM's Henderson: Corvette's future is secure

To answer Ken's post, yes I do think people in Washington do want to take over GM. It helsp them politically with the UAW, who has backed Dem's forever. Perhaps the only other organization that's backed Dems more is ACORN. Like I said in an earlier post, there isn't really anything the...

News: GM's Henderson: Corvette's future is secure

Just briefly, IMHO the problem with goverment running anything (especially business) is that they've proven beyond doubt that they are incapable of effective business managment. Pick the department, agency or program and it's rife with inefficiency and budget mis-managment. At the same time...

    Help! Transmission Problem ??

In your first post, you said this was taking place at 60-65 MPH right? Have you tried it in the same RPM ranges in 1st and 2nd gears? It sounds like the engine is surging a bit to me. Trying it in different gears should eliminate the trans and the problem might even be more noticable at the...

    Vinyl gauge overlays

Yep, dimmer is working, dome light comes on and the dash lights do get brighter, just not very bright. There don't seem to be any dead spots in the switch, but I suppose it could be carrying too much resistance anyway....

    Help! Bad Vibrations

Does it vibrate based on RPM or MPH? If you haven't already, try it in different gears. This should tell you if it's in the wheels and suspension, or, if it's in the power train. Seems like it could be a bad U joint, fan clutch, harmonic dampner or wheel balance, or bearings. Gotta narrow it...

What about the high power LED's? I've cleaned and replaced the bulbs in my dash, but they're still pretty dim. Anyone used these LEDs??

Welcome! You'll find lots of help and information here, folks are always ready to help out. $3000, not bad, especially if it runs and you enjoy it! As for your heater problem, if it doesn't work at all, the first place to look is the fuse block under the dash on the drivers side against the...

Best way to remove paint off the car for repaint

I did my last 81 and didn't have any problem. Actually, there are strippers made specifically for this effort. Go to the local auto paint supply store and ask them. Tell them what you've got and they should be able to point you in the right direction. DO NOT go through the gell coat, and...
