Question: Need Fuel Line and Filter PICS

My particular set up is on a modified engine in my 81, it doesn't use the return line. If I was using it, you can still use braided line if you choose to, like I did going from the hard line from the tank in the first picture. To do that, there's a ferrel and a nut that you use for the...

Question: Need Fuel Line and Filter PICS

Here's what I did. After doing this, I'm sold on the braided line approach. Cleaner, easier, better in all aspects. From the hard line to the tank: To and from the pump To and from the regulator From the regulator to the carb, with the inline filter

    Original Car Alarm

I know what you mean, Zildjian is a great deturant, he can be very intimidating (he's at 105lbs. I don't think there's an ounce of fat on this dog, I work him regularly), especially if someone isn't expecting to see him! Lately he's taken to getting into the passenger seat anytime I open the...

Yep the center cap is chrome, but the insert in the middle with the crossed flags is black...

Disgusted With How My 81 Runs arrrggghhh!

Sorry they scared you. I put another 300 miles on my car between yesterday and today. If you were closer, I'd have you over, pull your carb, make the changes (in about 5 minutes with it on the bench) and wouldn't charge you a thing. I'm curious about the builder in Florida, I talked to one...

Disgusted With How My 81 Runs arrrggghhh!

I here you Peter, but a replacement carb is $400 + in cost compared to using the carb he already has...I'd suggest using the oringinal...

Disgusted With How My 81 Runs arrrggghhh!

On the 81, the ECM controls a few things. The carb being the most effected. It also controls the EGR system, the converter lock up and the distributor advance. On the dash, the only thing the ECM controls is the Check Engine light. Like I said, if you disconnect the carb, or do the mods I'm...

Disgusted With How My 81 Runs arrrggghhh!

Okay, somebodys gonna probably give me some grief for this but, here's something that I've learned about the electric Qjets. They'll run great without all that stuff in them. You can run directly off the primary jets. You'll have to clip the M/C selenoid wires (cause you need the plug to...

Question: How much Freon does the AC system use?

If I remember correctly, the system uses 2.75lbs of refrigerant. There should be a label on the air box with that information. With the system on max the compressor shouldn't be cycling. It should stay on if everything is working correctly and there's enough refrigerant in the system. I'd...

    Two quadrajet problems

Peter, Sounds like everything is good on the carb. Makes me wonder if there might be some issue with the throttle linkage or cruise control linkage? If you can't get below about 700 rpm with the idle speed screw, and the plates are all closing when you look at the carb off the car, maybe...

    Two quadrajet problems

Peter, Seems like there might be a couple things going on. The pics that show daylight between the butterflys and the base plate make me wonder if they're closing all the way. Obviously there has to be some space, but this seems to be a little much. The next thing is that it's not exactly...

Help! There is Something Not Right With My Gail, but I Cannot Figure It Out...yet...:)

Sounds like a flow problem doesn't it? Maybe it's time for a check of the thermostat, and than a flush and refill??

    E4ME Jet Size

Actually the primary jets on the E4ME are integral in the tubes that the meetering rods ride in. These tubes basicall hold the meetering rods in place and are screwed in howerver and can be removed but to my knowledge nobody makes different sizes of these things. If I remember correctly, you...

    Tranny swap?

I modified my 200 a bit, but that's because the BB is modified as well. These transmissions were used in Buick Grand Nationals, and have done well, so they can handle performance applications. Again, either will work and work well provided they're built appropriately. You don't want a bone...

    Tranny swap?

I find the 200 easier, but that's me. It's physically smaller so it fits in the tunnel better, and IMHO the gear ratios are a bit better for a daily driver, If your engine is stock or less than about 350hp, or so, you should be fine.

    200r4/700r4 install

You'll need to modify the drive shaft (I think for the 700 it needs to be shorter) the crossmemeber (the trans mount's in a different place than on the 350) the shifter (to reach all 4 gears manually) and if it has a lock up torque converter, you'll have to wire that too. All things...

    Aux. Fan Question

Peter, That's a good idea, but that particular sensor is different and doesn't come in different temps that I'm aware of. Instead of suppling a ground when you reach temp like a typical temp sensor, this thing completes the circuit on the hot side at temp providing power to the fan. David

    Aux. Fan Question

That lower air defelctor makes all the difference. I learned that when I lived in sunny So Cal! It doesn't sit any lower than the support that's in the middle of the front end now (it's a thin metal piece dead center...). It's urethane like the bumper, so it's soft and has rubber pieces that...
