ok thanks. I'm going to try and tackle the u joint replacement this weekend.
Any other wearable items to check or replace while I'm under there ?
Are the tranny mounts on the C4 fairly robust ?
I spent the last weekend making trips through the Tennessee mountains, and made one really "spirited" trip down the dragons tale ( US 129 )
Afterword, I started getting the tell tale clicking noise from the back axles.
I think its time for the U joints to be replaced :ugh
I've done a...
I would replace the fuel filter after I ran it for a few minutes.
Just in case anything was sent upstream when the old pump went out
and for general peace of mind.
At least you guys can get gas ! In Atlanta I would be happy with some second tier gas ... even third. :upthumbs
My vette has been parked for 2 weeks with no sign of relief in sight.
:W
I would take it to a tranny shop like AAmco or whoever and have it diagnosed for free. Most shops do that.
I wouldn't spend any money according to what I read on the internet :upthumbs
Free advice is worth what you pay for it.
However, those symtoms are similar to others I've seen in...
" bar(s) between left and right tracks must be cut and re-welded, it's not a simple screwdriver task. I can't verify that however"
I can. It's true. I had a die grinder in my hand and almost went at it.
Instead I paid the big bucks for a rebuilt seat frame. It works great but the price...
Can you be more specific about what the car feels like?
Your car has a 4 speed automatic. You should feel 4 distinct " bumps"
when accelerating.(maybe a bark and a wiggle in 2nd :thumb)
Do you feel all 4 ? or just 2 gears and it stops ?
What happens when you put it in low gear and...
The standard fiberglass wont stick well. I found this out the hard way.
Imagine 4 hours of your hard work cracking off the first time you hit the twisties :bash and flying down the road in a nice C4 floor shaped chunk .
Ecklers and few other places carry a special glass that does the job.
I...
How much fuel pressure do you have ? Maybe you have a restriction in the fuel line creating extra stress on the pump?
When was the last time you put a fuel filter on it ?
As far as the alternator is concerned I would check the wiring and connectors. Obviously its under much more of a load...
a stock L98 with some short gears can accelerate like that. Right up until it runs out of breath.
However, I agree with the above statement. It's not just a naturally aspirated car. He probably has a power adder.
Works great may not last a long time however. Nitrous is HARD on just about...
That 86 in the video probably has an L-98 motor. If yours is a 92 as in your sig you have an LT-1 motor. You already have about a 60 hp jump on that L98 engine.
Check and search for Lt-1 or LT1 mods. Chevy actually modified the engine in the 1996 version called Lt4 that has similar mods as to...
