Also, 4 different engines are in the C4 ( excluding Zr-1's)
The Crossfire injected 1984
The L98 in all its forms from 1985 to 1991 ( lots of torque, not much for top end RPMS)
The LT-1 from 1992 to 1996, revs really good, not quite as much punch down low like an L98 car. Still an iron...
I have repaired 2 of these.
1. pop riveted a strip of aluminum on the lip and redrilled the holes
2. used the magic epoxy putty and then redrilled the holes
Both are still on the cars I repaired after several years. I've repaired the fender flairs for an early Trans Am in a similar...
Can you point me in the right direction ? I did a few searches and couldn't find it. Maybe I'm searching for the wrong wording ?
I will have to replace mine someday as well. If I could save 1000 dollars I would be a happy man.
I did find this quote in one of the post
"First, the GM tops...
My advice is it isn't easy. My buddy and I tried to replace one on an earlier C4 at his shop and it was very difficult. In the end, we ripped the top and sent it out to a professional. The shop charged 12 hours of labor to install it. That is where your 1k price comes into play.
I still don't...
If your Lt-1 is stock, my guess is very little. They lean out the fuel curve as in less fuel (this could be bad if something else goes bad) and advance the timing.
Yes it makes for a crisper engine but it moves you closer to the edge of destruction if that makes any sense. It can also create...
I've written the same post for my 1995 convertable. The one thing out of all the replies I got that really hit home was this:
Ride in car that has an aftermarket exhaust system in it and see which one you like. Listen to the differences in tones and resonance. You may think it sounds cool for...
To give you an idea of the going prices, I paid 10k for a near mint 1995 6spd convertable with less miles. The 1988 anniversary was a COOL color combination with a few badges but not much else makes it different from any other L98 vette.
An article in the March 2006 Corvette magazine states...
I would check for a vacuum leak someplace or a clogged EGR valve. I'm not real familiar with an L98 however. Maybe an IAC valve is sticking or dirty ? Either way I think your getting a foreign air flow into the system, causing the system to "hunt" for the correct settings.
Do a search in this forum for Optispark. Thats the name of the ignition system on your LT1. The replacement is very similar on a Camaro but not exactly the same.
Also the ECM controls all the timing etc on this engine.
try www.z28.com for detailed replacement procedures.

Your asking a VERY emotional question here. Obviously you like the car. I've seen your post.
My best advice is to visit www.autotrader.com or www.collectorcartrader.com and see what they are going for.
It's hard to put a price on busted knuckles and personal labor.
:thumb
This may sound dumb, but have you checked the starter ?
You may be able to jump the connector with a test wire just to see if it spins. Just a thought.
The manual helps on these cars :upthumbs. I dont think a cataclismic
perverter or ummm catalytic converter would make it skip. O2 sensors maybe, but it would prolly throw an SES light.
My first step would be to read the codes from the ECM and see whats missing. (air, fuel or spark) and go from...
Fuel pressure gauge attaches to the fuel rail. It looks like a valve stem on a tire sort of :). The gauge screws onto the valve.
have a rag handy as a little gas will drip out and the gauge will have to be purged to get a proper reading. The gauge is about 20 bucks at a parts store.
Hope...
Here are some pics of the back of my '95 Convertable. Sorry for the late reply. I have removed the complete interior, cleaned and reinstalled it.
So if you need any further tips or pics just PM me.
Basically the only things that are back there are wiring, sound deadening and carpet. Underneath...
Does your car meet emissions ? If so, forget about it ! Your engine is reasonably healthy. I would just clean out the oil, and drive it till wheels fell off. :thumb
That oil could have been in there from years ago or from last week.
If it isn't :pukeoil out the PCV inlet, drive it man !
