Superram going onto mostly stock L-98 what sorta gains can be expected?

I think most people are liking their SR, but the way you phrased your question indicates that you only want the plenum/runners and nothing else right now. Most who have the SR, also have the TPiS or Accel base and have changed their cam. Very few put the top on without doing the rest, which is...

Superram going onto mostly stock L-98 what sorta gains can be expected?

Hard to say, you could run into a problem of tuning, its going to be delivering air differently than the TPI would. I would expect some nice gains, but I think I'll have to defer to someone who has specifically tried this to say how the car runs and idles.

    Royal Purple

They are roughly equal. If you replaced all your common fluids with full synthetics like they did in the episode of HorsePower TV edmond is alluding to, you would probably gain HP as well. Plus you dont know how old the fluids were in that LS1 Camaro, so that affects the testing.

    Kumho ECSTA MX

Its a good dry traction tire, good for daily driving and autox. Its not particularly great in rain, but its not terrible either. The Supra 712 is better for that.

Bilstein Shocks on an '89 C4???

They should be nearing replacement time, given the age of the car. However, if you are looking to improve RIDE, Bilstein is not the choice. Its a autox shock or for someone who drives 'spirited'. Edelbrock IAS, Koni, KYB, would be better for ride quality. Edelbrock being the best of those in...

    Voltage Reading

Upon startup it needs to be a little over 14. At idle with accessories running it may dip into the high 12s (lights, AC, radio, etc), when warm. Another thing, never trust the in-car gauge, you need to put an external meter on the battery to check it. Mine is off by .6 V.

    X-brace help the body shaking?

They feel roughly the same, so youll need some type of stiffener if that is bothering you. X-brace, Camber Brace, Targa Truss-bar all available at RD Racing

need some info on a new crate motor

I saw a nice 383 Combo in Summit from Huntsville Engines, if I remember correctly, they were about $3300 for the short block. Then I'd spring for a new/used Superram, Accel 219 cam, AFR 195 heads (or similar), and save anything leftover for a Dana 44 rear because the rear on the automatic is...

    MAF relays on an 85

85 does NOT have relays behind the battery, it doesnt even have the relays anywhere. Its a unique year. The only thing other than the MAF sensor that should cause the code is the Burnoff Module, which is buried behind the passenger side dash. Its rather expensive since its a unique piece to 85...

    No MAF in 91--Why??

You run on a Speed Density system, that uses a MAP sensor to detect incoming air pressure. The MAF and MAP basically do the same thing, but from a different perspective. 85-89 and 94-96 have MAF, the rest use SD.

Your temps are normal for a stock setup

    Custom chips

Ed Wright at Fastchip.com would be one. But I wouldnt do the chip thing unless youre totally done, If you change the cam later youll have to have it reprogrammed and that costs just as much or nearly so.

    How hot??

Main fan should come on at about 228F. These temperatures will not hurt the car. Regular oil doesnt break down until 250, and I wouldnt let coolant get to 250 either.

Any news on the C4 Vararam?

PE is beset by casting problems with their manufacturers, I ordered a set at the end of January, and they have yet to produce one catback. The foundry they use also does parts for GM, and PE, being a low volume seller, is at the bottom of the totem pole, so they arent doing any business. You...
