do i need to upjet my carb to match new exhaust?

Hi Mark I bought some jets and rods for a quadrajet from Speed and Spares America - 01372 745747. They had them on the shelf and they were only a few pounds. Alternatively I have used John Woolfe Racing for some bits and found both places very helpfull and reasonably priced. J.

    Tyre size??

Hi ashy, I had the same dilema as you and Dazza when it came to exhausts and after looking around I couldn`t find the proper silencers at a reasonable price. I eventually bought a couple of straight thru motorbike alloy race cans. They were 2-1/2" slip fit and with a couple of clamps and...

Sharkfest update, got on the dyno today

On my first visit there was a Porsche Turbo Cup race car on the rollers in front of me and when they backed of the gas there was two huge flames shot out of the exhausts. I was suitably impressed. Back to yours though, when you think of the contact patch of your tyres on the road compaired to...

Sharkfest update, got on the dyno today

Chris The problem I had both times I had my 81 on the rolling road was tyre slip. The rollers were very smooth and on one run the tyres were beginning to smoke a little !!! so it never showed it`s true potential. I think they are a good tuning tool but not the most accurate way to determin...

    oil change

Tom We have Wall Mart here as well but you would`t be able to buy Mobil at that price. I have had my Vette for just about four years and have only done 6000 miles in total, if I worked on my daily driver oilchange schedule(almost never) I wouldn`t have to change it for about another 10 years. oil change

Tom Every car every 5000 miles !! You probably spend more on oil than I paid for my last car. Mobil 1 is about $40 - $45 a gallon here. :L :L :L I use Valvoline non synthetic, it`s reasonably priced and works ok for me. J.

Finally got out to the dragstrip!

My friend took his T/A down to the local trucking company and they had a calibrated weigh bridge or scrap metal yards usually have them but they are not always accurate. J.

Finally got out to the dragstrip!

Nice Work 13.5 definitely isn`t to shabby for a first try when you consider a standard 80 would be lucky to run low 16`s and about 85mph. With a bit of practice I`m sure you will find a couple of tenths. J.

'81 Corvette Dream Mods WISHLIST (more ideas!!)

If I was doing it all over again I would go Big Block, Blower, 2 x4bbl, reverse pattern TH400 and 9" F**d. Forget the stereo you wouldn`t be able to hear it. J.

For those with sidepipes, some advice

Hi Scott, You forgot to add a section on burnt flesh :L :L We had a rare sunny day on Sunday and I took a run down to a local show and shine for old classics. No Vettes but a boy turned up with a very nice Cobra kit. As he pulled up we went over for a look, he got out and unfortunately stepped...

    New Carb and Manifold Pics...

Hi, I am not a big fan of Holley carbs and havn`t had much luck with them over the years but the Street Avenger looks "have to have one" good so I will be interested in your comments once you have it fitted and running. On the Air Gap issue, I did have mine under the hood with a drop base and...

    Rpm??

Hi, I have never really checked my rear gears but on the flat at 3000 rpm it is going just over 60 or so. Like Tom I find my self settling into cruising around 60 - 65 to keep the rpm around 3000 but occasionally I have ran with a steady 4000+ rpm for good distances and so far no problems even...

Time to add some ponies, whats your thoughts with this combo...

Tom I used standard length pushrods and had no problems. In the Edelbrock catalogue it say`s to use +.100" pushrods if you are using the "stock" rockers. I did use some heavy duty Crane items just to be on the safe side. I also changed the original flat pushrod guide plates that came with the...

Time to add some ponies, whats your thoughts with this combo...

You are right about the compression, the flat tops I have with the 64cc heads should yield about 9.25cr and it was probably just a little short of the mark for the RPM cam. I just could not get the RPM cam to run well below 2500rpm and even with the stick shift it was hard going around town, but...

Time to add some ponies, whats your thoughts with this combo...

Hi, The comp 268 is a popular choice with quite a few people at the moment but I doubt if you will get the required 400hp with it. When I looked into changing the RPM cam in my car I had a few different cams run on desk top dyno for me and did consider the 268. It has plenty of torque but was...

    What oil ??

Hey Wolf, No offence taken, as I said I still have my flame retardent coveralls and I expected more, all I can say rightly or wrongly is that how I have done it over the years. I have probably had over 100 cars pass through my hands from beater`s to a Porsch and as I said I`ve only had one...
