Greetings
I had a 63 Sebring Silver Z06 coupe speced out to order in January 1963, because the Z06 option was not available in the convertible due to the 36 gal. gas tank. Finally, I decided that I wanted my first Corvette, my first new car to be a convertible, so I declined to get the coupe...
Hmmmm, the future could be more than sharing parts,...a few years ago GM denied rumors that the Chevrolet Corvette would become a Cadillac Corvette or even become it's own Marque. Some journalists have predicted this, others won't talk about it now. Maybe it depends just how successful Caddy's...
The doors will fit and you need to change the glass, but the coupe doors don't have a place for a cone shaped piece above the latch assembly that fits into a female assembly in the convertible door frame.
I don't think it is a "must have", but it will help with anti-rattle and might eliminate...

Do still have the aftermarket suspension pieces you took off of your mid-year and would you be interested in selling them?
Did your car come out of Indiana? I was buying some parts from a guy that was telling me he sold a car a few years ago that had the suspension that you describe...

It sounds like you aren't really planning on doing a complete restoration at once, just want to get the frame done while you have the suspension off, is that correct?
My son and I have done a couple of frame-offs in the last several years, one on a 64 roadster over a two year period...

Give Pat Ikerd (Ikerd's Inc.) a call at 812-279-4828 a call. He's been rebuilding differentials for years and used to supply Mid-America. I'm not sure if he still provides them to Mid-America or not, but he will have a wide choice in stock for you to choose from.
Tell him "handlebar"...

Yes, I agree that the secondary operations wouldn't have much if anything to do with factory dyno-runs. However, for ZR-1's on the road today the lack of use can be a factor. My sons car had been babied until we brought it home from North Dakota and it progressively ran better...

There are several thoughts about the differences in LT-5 power. One that I've heard that the first 500 built are stronger than those built later. Perhaps something to do with move precise cam timing as I understand it is very critical to the LT-5.
I've also heard the...

One thing to consider is how much can you lenjoy the car in it's as-is condition, and how long can you live with it like that?
If you can't get good use of it now, then begin your planning and estimating how much it will cost in terms of dollars, your time in working on it and how many...

In putting together a big block recently I had some problems with rocker stud nuts loosening, bought new nuts and still had problems. Finally went with new studs too and that fixed the problem.
The threads looked ok, but just wouldn't hold. I'm running solids on a 595 lift...
These ideas may have already been posted and I just didn't see them, but here are a couple more:
I know it's just too simple to believe, but is the fan running in the right direction? I've known two people that hooked them up backwards.
My son has used waterwetter in both of his Corvettes...

Yes, the headers flare out to match up with the sidepipes. Perfect alignment to the sidepipe as it turns toward the engine.

I have a set of orignal big block factory sidepipes behind the headers and they are pretty much blown out by now, and probably straight-thru.
I...

Thanks for the compliment on my car. It was my first Corvette, and my first new car so it is pretty special to me.
I'm sorry that I don't have any pictures to post and the car is currently stored out of town. I'll see if I can get a picture taken, but it might not work out.

I used

Big-Block Chevy Performance by Dave Emanuel.
Lots of dupliication, but still good to read.
Good luck

The only thing that I had to do was cut the sidepipe exhaust off to fit up to the collector extensions, and it was a perfect fit alignment-wise.
It's been too long for me to know the Heddman part number I'm afraid, sorry.
I had them nickel plated and chromed without the copper flash...

The original KO's did not have the safety pins for the KO spinner. The originals also have fins that are tapered, larger close to the center and slimmer as they approach the outer rim. The repro's are thicker and uniform.
The originals also have a slimmer rim edge than the repro's...

Sorry for the late response. Yes, the heddman sidepipe headers angle out to the side to meet up with the stock Corvette sidepipes. I'd estimate that you have to cut the sidepipes about six to eight inches back from where they turn to go down the side.
Mine came with an extension to...

Factory header sidepipes were available from GM parts. I have a small block set and a big block set. I believe they were made by Kustom Headers, but had a GM part number. The big block had 2inch primaries and were very long dumping into 4inch sidepipes. They were intended for road...
For what it's worth, Heddman makes headers that match up to the factory sidepipes. I've had a set on my 63 for years with no problems. You just have to cut the sidepipes to match up with the header collector, clamp or weld the extension onto the sidepipe and bolt it to the collector flange.
