Is there a fix to the seat ratchet problem?

I replaced the adjusting mechanism on both sides, it is/was available as a separate part @ about $75 each from GM. It helped a lot, but it still drops about once every dozen runs. It is just one of many "borderline" designs on the car, that don't quite stand up to autox/DE duty. Sometimes I...

Knowlegebase Update: 2004 Corvette Recall: Fuel Tank Quick Connector Leak

I got notified by letter about 6 mos ago. It specifically states that you have to HAVE A LEAK to get it fixed. No leak, no fix, unless that changed. :thumb

Need Expert Help With Unusual C5 Oil Issues

Some good info on viscosity vs. oil temps, Joe Gibbs Driven - Training Center Please disregard this post if your mind is already made up regarding your oil choice. If your car is only street driven, or does occasional parade laps, don't worry about your oil. Anyone else, learn. :thumb

Learning Launch Control....How any Writer can be a Great Drag Racer

My friend has a 2011 GS with the aformentioned launch control. He said that the "problem" with launch control is that, if your intention is to drive the car in anything other than a straight line, and you want ALL the nannies OFF you can't use launch control to start off. For example on an autox...

Need Expert Help With Unusual C5 Oil Issues

Hi Hib, Been a while since I visited this forum but it didn't take long to cause a controversy & of course it's an oil thread. Still have the z16? I'm not going to point out the misinformation in the thread as another forum member has requested, or try to explain how government mandates...

Need Expert Help With Unusual C5 Oil Issues

10w30 ok, yes per GM http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p70/froggy47/10w30/10w-30005.jpg This is from my 2004 owner's manual. I have used both 5w30 and 10w30 and 10w40 with no issues in my ls6. My 95M3 loves 20w50. The right oil for the way the engine is run and the ambient temps is what...

    lost key

You can find a table with the resistance = key number. Then measure the resistance with a good multimeter. Then go on ebay & buy the key for like $5. Then have it cut for another $5 or so. I don't have the table, but it's not that hard to find. This is not a huge deal. Here's a link, took...

Next Corvette Will Be Powered by Small, High-Revving Turbo V-8

"The engine is likely to be extremely high-revving, perhaps climbing to a near-Formula One-class 10,000 RPMs, suggested one source involved in the project." Since todays F1 engine revs to 18,000 rpm (regulated by FIA rule) let's hope this "one source involved in the project" will be replaced...

Help! C5 Front end on ground

I would examine all front suspension very closely, these springs are strong. It would take a huge impact to break one in the middle. Be careful. :)

    hurst shifter (pooie)

Hi Hib, I will try it, as I am due in about 2 weeks for the service. Can you write a little about where it performs better than d4atf? The Redline web site gives some "properties" info on d4atf but nothing similar on the superlight shockproof. If I am hammering it hard on track day I...

    WTB Stock Hood Liner

That's what I say. Take it off & shoot some primer (maybe) & some flat black from a rattle can. What have you got to loose??? Don't over think this. :)

    My C5 steers heavy.

I don't think so, run flats have stiff sidewall & hard rubber, should turn easy. Has the PS fluid ever been changed? Maybe the PS pump is getting tired, how many miles on it? :)

    My C5 steers heavy.

Worn down tires will steer harder, slicks even more. :)

ramps, jacks and not getting crushed

Sorry, I was thinking composite springs, I guess with steel you could jack as much as you wanted on them. If I were doing headers I would try to find a lift somewhere, but if you get it high enough ramp/jack should work. :)
