    Dropping the TH350 1980-82 Years?

Pics of two clutches and two steels...not bad for 31 years and 127,000 miles! Too bad, lock-up solenoid is cracked...it will be replaced.

    Dropping the TH350 1980-82 Years?

Who made a lower drum spring compressor...this guy that's who! :thumb The trans is fully apart...all rubber o-rings/seals were hard like plastic. The large pump o-ring was also like plastic and cracked as soon as I tried to remove it. That's where me leak was coming from. The front clutches...

    Dropping the TH350 1980-82 Years?

The reason you ask, its had a leak that was getting worse. I hoped the leak was from the pan gasket or the other usual places...not so lucky, it's internal. Being I have trust issues with my local shops and they're just gorillas that would break something and say "it was already like that" I...

    Dropping the TH350 1980-82 Years?

It's finally out! Using my trans-jack, I was sweating the car may not have been high enough. Only dropped the engine maybe 1" and it came out like butter! Then, by using the 'tilt' on the trans jack I was able to just get it out from under the car...just behind the front left wheel. Now the...

    Dropping the TH350 1980-82 Years?

Update... finally got back on the transmission job...working with a bad shoulder in a 9'wide garage makes for slow going but I decided to pull the Dizzy, this allowed me to remove the two top trans bolts. Also, by pulling the Dizzy, it exposed a pressure sender that's mounted at the rear of the...

    Dropping the TH350 1980-82 Years?

Great info, thanks! With the way things have been going I'll assume the mounts are shot. What I can do, once the trans is down, I'll wrestle in of the Trany jack and then it will easily slide out from the drivers side. Think I have some 22" from floor to undercarriage.

    Dropping the TH350 1980-82 Years?

Like I said, if I can help no suspension will hang! Finally made the front stands...maybe over kill but it's SOLID! As you can see...I'm working in a 9' wide garage...very snug! I purchased a used Transmission Jack (great condition) $60 bucks! *Frame cross-member will be coming out *Drive...

Placing Jack Stands Under the Control Arms?

Great feedback...thanks! Question...just how much movement flex can the motor mounts take before they are destroyed?

Placing Jack Stands Under the Control Arms?

Finally made the front stands...maybe over kill but it's SOLID! As you can see...I'm working in a 9' wide garage...very snug! Like I said, if I can help no suspension will hang! I purchased a used Transmission Jack (great condition) Suppose it will be time to getting my TH350c ... OUT...

Placing Jack Stands Under the Control Arms?

As some may know, unless I'm working on my cars suspension, I don't like the suspension to hang. I'm contemplating on R&R my TH350c transmission and need to get the car up a little higher...higher than what my current drive-on ramps allow. So, I would like to place my 12-Ton Jack stands...

    Dropping the TH350 1980-82 Years?

Centimeter, what's a centimeter??? lol I had to visit the conversion chart, 42 cm = 16.535450 My under car clearance is 16.50 (inches) I can raise the rear of the car a few more INCHES...that should do it.

    Dropping the TH350 1980-82 Years?

"transmission jack"...no such luxury, I'm talking maybe a floor jack to aid it down then, onto the garage floor and slide it out from under the car. I just visited a few transmission repair shops, got prices if I bring the transmission to them or, I let them take it out of the car. As with my...

    Dropping the TH350 1980-82 Years?

Peter, as usual thanks for the feedback. Using my hoist isn't an option...my garage is just way to small! If using a large enough piece of 2x10 (to spread the pressure) I didn't think supporting the engine under the Pan would be too bad, but I like your idea about using the oil filter boss...

    Dropping the TH350 1980-82 Years?

Long story short...seeing ATF just above the trans-pan and just inside the trans case lip, it appears my TH350 has to come out > (all other leak points have been addressed) I believe it's leaking at the pump input seal. So, the car is off the ground, drove the front up on ramps and the rear...

TH350 Pan Gasket And A Few Other Questions?

I think everything on this car is past it's service life...just like the owner. When should I put in in 2 'nd...After park, low, park???

TH350 Pan Gasket And A Few Other Questions?

New o-ring in and Y-pipe back up. Local tranz shop gave me the o-ring, and I gooped it up with Vaseline...seemed to seat well. Getting the retaining ring in while pushing the cover 'in' was a bit of a pita. I sure hope this 0-ring was indeed the weep I was seeing.

TH350 Pan Gasket And A Few Other Questions?

Accumulator Cover off! The O-Ring was hard as a rock and cracked when removing it from the cover. The C-ring/wire holding the cover on was installed like the letter 'C' and what I did was to tap-tap it around so the open end was facing the rear of the car > that's the ONLY way to get the wire...

    Brake Master Cylinder?

UPDATE... Pedal appears to be high and hard! I believe it was the rear inner bleeders needed to be addressed. And I cant believe I over looked them (dumb ass) By myself I bled the heck out of the system, I visited each bleeder over and over, then gravity bled and burped each caliper over and...

TH350 Pan Gasket And A Few Other Questions?

I did some researching, saw some pictures and read how others went about it. Feedback tells me, the O-ring MUST be first installed into the bore vs putting it on the cover...and to help it slide together and seal to use something very slippery like STP or Vaseline. Doesn't appear to be...

    Brake Master Cylinder?

Allow me to clearify...true, when bench bleeding I can indeed fully compress the piston/full strokes into its bore > as without anything to stop the fluid, it's simply exiting and reentering the MC. However, when I remove the homemade bleeder tubes and plug the two ports, the piston becomes firm...
