Bud, in his infinate wisdom, opened a can of worms for me on Gerrys recent post, bringing up the topic of the seemingly ridiculous charcoal filter that is glued to the air cleaner housing,on our 81's and that sits right behind the air cleaner.
That thing has been there all the time, and i never...
Took mine out Last Wedneday, after work, first time this year.
72 degrees nice dry roads,Now, 22 degrees, almost a foot of snow and ice, plus I was stuck at work almost the last 3 days.
Oh well, more money for the 81,and warmer weather coming.

I recently replaced the stock god awful government mandated 85mph speedo on my 81,with a 140 mph unit from John at Redline gauge.
My dash lights too, were somewhat dim. (I guess that is the nature of the C3)
They were all working.but I replaced them anyway with new bulbs (194)...
I couldnt resist, after having my 81 sitting in the garage most of the winter, today after work I fired her up and took her olut for a nice cruise on the highway.
Roads were bare and dry,no puddles or sand, and temps were in the 50's.
Got it up to about 90-100,on one long stretch or...
I also like Mobil 1. I use synthetic oil in my 2002 Harley Fatboy,as well as wifes Toyota, and my Silverado 2500.
But I thought that i read somewhere in the past either on this forum or elsewhere, that we shouldnt use Mobil 1 or other sythetics with our 81's?
Something about the the older...
I know many older c3 owners use 15/40 or straight 30weight oil in there vettes.
But what is the concensus as far as our "newer" 81's is concerned.
My owners manual reccomends 10-30 and that is what i have used so far.
Any opinions or recomendations on this?
As always,thanks in...
Gerry,
Glad you are OK,and your 81 is too,(at least bodywise) .
I too, feel your pain and have had that sick feeling in my gut, from experiencing a simalar instance,(but not in my vette) and that feeling of helplessness.
Have a couple (few) cold ones, for me.

I like them,I saw the cone kit with the straight spinners on a 81 this past year at Carlisle, and I am going to get them both for my 81 from Ecklers, this Spring.
Later Ken:beer
Greetings, and I also would like to welcome you aboard.
Many great people on this forum and a wealth of knowledge and helpful opinions, and information.:beer Later,Ken
I upgraded the original 255/60/15s that were on my 81 to the same size in a set of 4 Firestone firehawk Indy specials.
Friend of mine manages a local Firestone store, and he has them on his 80.
Look good,no rubbing, and they handle and ride great.

Dare I admit, I too, almost mistaked a late model Trams Am,or Firebird coming up behind me recently on the way home from work. (It was dusk) for a C5. but a C3 never.
