How hot was the car? I hardly doubt my car would pass emissions. Why? Because it runs about 180 for water temp and oil temp. I have heard you need it well over 200 to "better" your chances of passing.
I think that depends on the race conditions of the track. I know at the local track here for the test and tune day it is not, but I think under bracket racing I think reaction time is taken into affect. But I could be wrong. Agreed the first, and only time I had reactions time of like 6...
My buddy has a blue 89 like you describe with the 350. His is in pretty good condition. It has around 92,xxx miles, and he payed 5k for it. Hope this helps at all.
Yeah the whole design of that thing is a POS. When I bought the car one of them was already broken off the side of the case, and held on with a twistie tie. I got tired of messing with it, and just spent the money and bought a Breathless Ram Air kit for it. It is still plastic but it is so...
I don't know about the exhaust leaks. Are you talking about where the front Y bolts to the exhaust manifolds? If so then maybe. If you are thinking the O2 is bad, they are relatively cheap to purchase.
Wow, thats not to bad. I am running straight exhaust now, so I don't know about the sound. I really do like the way it sounds now so I hope I don't get much change in it.
Agreed. My TPIS longtubes have all the emissions tubing on them. I don't think the gains of shorty headers are worth it for the HP gain, but I could be wrong.
I merged the two threads for you over here. I suppose I could have deleted the one in the tech forum...
But anyways, are you talking about the is on the curve of the decklid? That is black and you can polish??
I agree with everyone saying to go with the LT headers. When I took my original manifolds off they are basically a shorty header. If you are going to go through the trouble of wanting better sound, then get LT's. I LOVE the way my car sounds with the TPIS headers I bought.
My brothers car resonats BAD under normal driving conditions and he also has canister mufflers, but I have gotten used to it. My car doesnt resonat since I just have muffler eliminators on it.
