    Clicking Noise

Rust in the splines were the spindle and the hub bearing assembly mate will cause "clicks". I had this too so I removed the rust from the splines and coated them with anti-seize compound. The click went away. If you think it's the u-joints, you can crawl under the rear of the car, spray some...

I found a gallon of gas under my driver's seat!

Nice!:beer The only thing I've found was a dry, stiff, old, hamburger patty with a bite in it. How it go there with the person eating that hamburger not knowing it went under the seat is a mystery.:(

    Dexcool question....

I agree. I went with DexCool before I knew better. After hearing bad things from owners on their almost new cars, I soon flushed it all out and went back to the Green coolant to be on the safe side and eliminate all worries and hastles I had about DexCool. I would suggest that you just switch to...

Between the fuel rails - is it spose to shine, have even finish, or what?

Mine looked just like plain 18 year old dull aluminum would. I got mine done here. http://www.polishinginc.com/ If the polished look is not for you, I beleive you should be able to mask it off and repaint it with some high temp paint in the proper aluminum shade of color. Kinda like how the...

Anyone with an 86 can help me. Will you?

The Starter Wires: There are 3 wires. One Black, one Red, and one Purple. There are only 2 terminals on the starter, one terminal is big and one is small. The thick Black wire and the thin Red wire go together on the big terminal. The remaning Purple wire goes onto the small terminal by itself...

    Dexcool

That's all the proof I need right there to stay away from DexCool.

    Dexcool

Indeed, you need to flush out all remanining green coolant if you wish to switch over to Dex-Cool. I saw a news report on TV shortly after changing over to Dex-Cool saying nothing but bad things about it, and interview with owners that plan on taking legal action against GM. They claimed it...

Power Brake Booster May Have Gone Out?

Excessive force to brake and a hissing or leaking sound from under the dash when the brake pedal is depresses are classic symptoms of a bad brake booster. Your profile does not say what year your Vette is. I replaced mine on my 86.The hardest part was getting to one of the 4 mounting bolts under...

Oil Leak Is Killing Me! 1984

I agree with the leaking intake manifold. If it's leaking from the back, you won't be able to see it, and it drips along the block and ends up under the car. I had this happen to me. This oil can also drip down onto the oil pan mating surface form the back of the intake, and make it look like...

Intake oil leak, anyone had any luck with

I know for sure I moved my intake a little to align the bolt holes after it seated the first time arround. Perhaps that was my key mistake. I got it seated perfect this time without moving it. I found that the easiest way for me was to stradle over the motor with one foot on each front wheel...

    85 Head Gasket Replacement??

If you have the proper tools required, a confortable place to do it(preferably a garage away from weather), and another car to get arround on, yes. That shop manual is a plus. I agree with taking photos and labeling all hoses, harnesses, ect. with tape and a maker for ease of installation. Keep...

3.73 gears installed (finally!) but still a "clunk"

Loose rear spindle nuts will cause a "cluck" Check to make sure they are torqued to 165 ft. lbs. with the wheels off the ground. I had a "clunk" and found a loose spindle nut to be the source. Tightened it to 165 ft. lbs. and it went away instantly. It's an easy check and/or fix.

    Generator problem at first ride

You can measure the Voltage at the battery when the engine is off with a volt meter. Should be arround 12 volts. When you start the motor, the battery voltage should jump to 13-14 volts and stay there. Note that the actual voltage taken at the alternator and the battery with a volt meter always...

Intake oil leak, anyone had any luck with

I had to pull mine off again beacuse I used RTV the first time arround. I would highly recommend Permatex "The Right Stuff" Napa and PepBoys carry it. Also follow these techniques to the T and you will guarantee a leak free install. I've been absolutely leak free for about 4 months now. Having...

    K&N Oil Filter

Interesting you also have an 86. I use K&N all the time and have never had any problems. Filling the new filter with oil before installing it is excellent advice, but I would not recommend it on a ZR1.:L
