Turn Signal Cancel off by 45 degrees

I guess when I said it couldn't be installed improperly, I should have said it can't be installed out of kilter with the shaft due to the shape of the hole. I never in my wildest dreams thought someone would install it upsidedown. It's a wonder it worked at all. Congratulations.:beer

    Transmission upshift problem

Inspection Inspection should be made with the engine running at idle speed with the selector lever in Neutral. Set the parking brake firmly and block the wheels to prevent any vehicle movement. Have an assistant apply the brakes from the driver's seat. Grab the inner cable a few inches...

    '87 No Start Problem

I think you can also cross off the ignition switch. If everything that is supposed to come on when you turn the key, except the starter, does come on, the switch is working fine. There could be a loose wire from the switch but that wouldn't fix itself just by sitting there for a while. Yes...

Turn Signal Cancel off by 45 degrees

Inside the column, there is a plastic ring called the Turn Signal Cancelation Cam. It's possible that this part is either broken or incorrectly installed. It's not possible to install the part incorrectly. Therefore, it's probable that one or more of the "ears" (there are 3 of them) on this...

    Fuel level Sending Unit

You mentioned that you are selling the car. If I were looking at a car to buy and the car I was looking at had a problem with the dash display, I believe I'd lower any offer I was thinking of by at least the amount to fix it...and then add a few hundred for aggrevation. You might find that...

    '87 No Start Problem

If you've already by-passed the VATS, you can cross that one off your list. What you describe indicates it may be a heat generated problem. When whatever it is that is causing it, gets hot, it craps out. Then, after it cools down, all's well. You might want to check the starter relay which...

48MM VS 52 MM THROTTLE BODY

Do they make Helicoils that small? If so, that would be the cheapest way to go and wouldn't take a lot of time to do.

48MM VS 52 MM THROTTLE BODY

Have you tried a salvage yard? You'll probably save $$$ and some hastle.

    Headlight dimmer switch

That doesn't sound too bad. Did he say how much his labor would be?
  12. Jeb

    Headlight dimmer switch

There is a rod which runs from the dimmer switch on the column up to the lever. That plastic part which fell out probably goes on the top end of that rod. Did you have the column apart when it fell out?

    Base Timming??

It's at the rear of the left valve cover down near the bottom of the distributor. It should be found sticking out of a cable shield that runs from the bottom of the distributor.

    Headlight shake--remedy please

You might consider swapping the headlights and see if the shake moves to the opposite side. It's possible that the filiment in the bulb is loose. If that's the case, the bulb won't last much longer anyway and your problem will solve itself. ;)

    Base Timming??

LOL I was just rattlin your cage, Dood. To be honest, I've never screwed around with the base timing on mine so I didn't want to post something of a detailed nature and make matters worse. I just didn't want him to think nothing could be done. I think the earlier poster who said that nothing...

    Base Timming??

Not so fast, Dood! :D He's not done until he rechecks the timing and sees that the distributor didn't move when he tightened it back up.

    Base Timming??

Base timing should be listed on the emissions control lable located on the radiator shroud. I believe it is 6 degrees BTC for an L98.

"fuel pump relay wiring help please?"

On my '87, the relay is located behind the driver information panel. I don't know if it's in the same place on a '91 but felt you deserved some sort of answer.:)

    Fog Lamp Replacement

The bulb for an 87 is the 880. The Silverstar bulb is the 880ST. Either the ST or the 885 will work fine.
