    TRANNY COOLER

It does. I was wondering why an additional cooler was needed unless the owner plans on doing some towing. I haven't had a problem with transmission overheating under normal operating conditions with my '87. At least I don't think I have. LOL

    94 door locks

I only have access to a 1987 shop manual but in the '87, there are two wires coming from the lock motor, one is black and the other is blue. One is to lock the door and the other is to unlock it. Both wires end up in the IP harness. In my 1987 Manual, they are listed as circuits #194 and...

    94 door locks

Sorry, but I have to ask..... Has the door key ever worked since you've owned the car? (Not that it matters much) I don't think the PKE has anything to do with this. These locks aren't any different than any other door lock. It's what is connected to the linkage that is different when you...

    94 door locks

Ok. Now we're narrowing it down somewhat. Have you tried a different key? It's possible, I suppose, that one of the "points" (I don't know the correct nomenclature) on the key is either worn down or broken off which would allow the key to work in one direction and not in the other (like a...

    94 door locks

Patrick, thanks for the welcome but I've been here for a while. ;) Anyway, I believe he said his remotes work fine. I cannot imagine how a key would work to lock the doors but not unlock them as the same tumblers which the key uses to turn the lock barrel to lock the door are used to turn the...

    94 door locks

Just to be sure I have this correctly. You can use the key to lock the doors but the same key won't unlock them? ...or....the doors will lock using the switch but the key won't unlock them. I'm sure the first is what you meant but I want to be sure.

    Valvoline Instand Oil Change Warning

My mechanic recommends against flushing an automatic transmission. He told me that the process will loosen small particles within the transmission which, when dislodged, will end up floating around in the new fluid and causing major problems post flush which will eventually (sooner rather than...

Adjusting height of the brake pedal

If you want to live dangerously, you could bend the shaft of the gas pedal and raise it up some. It might make it a little cramped for the toes though.

    Memory tender

But to upside is that you can still use it for a key fob or peddle it off as something neat at Captain Tony's or Schooner's Wharf! :D

breaks lock when 88 get to temp

    DOT 5 fluid? I've been told that's a no-no in these cars.

    Shifter Not Locking

The shifter only locks in Drive(O). It's not supposed to lock in D, 1, or 2. I believe it's designed to lock there only because that keeps you from shifting into reverse from a forward gear by accident. Your temp seems a tad high but not so high that you need worry too much. Is the area...

Can anyone help me find a part

I would suggest that you start calling around to the salvage yards. You may still have to buy a complete unit but at least it won't be as expensive. You might even talk one into parting a shifter for your specific part.

Thanks. I was doing it wrong. I'll leave that up for a couple of days and then pull it to save my bandwidth.

    Changing gears in '87 Vert

Thanks for the information. I was thinking of 3.40. I don't race or otherwise abuse the car so the D35 should handle the extra stress if there is any.

    Changing gears in '87 Vert

I've got a stock 87 with an automatic trans and 2:73 gears. Roughly 100K on the meter. I've been toying with the idea of changing the gear ratio to give the car a little more ooompf off the line. I'm not too worried about top end since I don't go there anyway but I'd like to improve the...
