BTW, when was the last time you either checked or changed your clutch fluid? If its black, change it. If it gets black again quickly, cylinder seals may be bad so you may want to replace the master and slave cylinder. I that doesn't do it, then it may be time for a clutch.
One other thing to...
I did this swap on my 84 Z51. Completely changed the car IMO. Loved it. It's a bit involved and I can't imagine what the cost would be if I hadn't done it myself. Mainly it's parts swapping
except for cutting the tunnel and grafting the ZF tunnel piece on. Just a little glass work.
You'll need...
Why would you think it won't line up? I would definitely port the Xfire. Also not convinced the Xfirencannflow enough for a 383. I did use a Xfire I'm 2.02 TFS 23d heads. However, it was using a 350.
I bring up the timing because at 97k miles, I would expect to see an issue w the 2 piece balancer. The outer hub moves in respect to the crank giving you a false reading. I installed a Fluidamper. Just a thought. You can mark the inner and outer hubs then start the motor. Put timing light on it...
The Xfire is definitely a DIY project if you want to get the most performance out of the stockinduction system. Fortunately for you others lime myself have already plowed the road for you.For the most part the Xfire is like any other SBC. So cam and heads with exhaust is the formula. However, to...
Go spend some time at ThirdGen.org. Look up the DIY Prom forum. They have stickies on Tuning 101. Read that first before starting off. The forumis an excellent source of information and lots of helpful/knowledgeable people.
Has there been any Vette better looking than a C4 ZR-1 with the clamshell hood open? 20 years later, the LT-5 still stands up to modern technology. With some basic mods, you are talking about an honest 475-530hp from a stock block 350 and a car capable of180+. The top end on these cars can be...
I have a dyno sheet showing ~400rwhp @6800rpm on a stock block LT-5 motor with just ported plenum and IH and 1 7/8 Watson headers. Turns out the cam timing was out of phase. I did run a C5Z heads up at Byron last year and walked from him top end. His trap was 113, mine was 117+. One member of...
93 Rubie,Why don't you try an LT-5 and find out what a high revving small block feels like!?Power peaks at somewhere around 6800rpm with torque peak at 52-5300. That's alightly modified LT-5. Essentially porting the top end and headers yields about 400hp at the wheels.Port the heads and a bit...
