    Cool DIY Radar Detector Mount

Great "stealth" ideas. Here is the funny part. The one and only speeding ticket I ever got...was in a VETTE with the radar detector going. The trooper was going the other way and zapped his instant on burst. The detector went off...and noted I was only slightly above the limit and I slowed...

    No Start Problem; VATS???

Hey Lyle, Is it possible your ignition switch (not the lock cylinder) is bad, or out of adjustment? In other words, your twist the key, but the rod does not push the switch all the way forward to start...however, it does cycle the fuel pump and IAC..etc, so you get the sizzle noise under the...

Ah, I found some more old pics

Actually, the photo was taken in Orange Park, Florida. We lived there back then, moved away and ended up moving back years later. White steering wheel? I really don't know? Yep, you never know about the moulding. The car was bought new from the same dealer (for his daughter) that my Dad...

    No Start Problem; VATS???

I just went through this on a trans am. It is no big deal. First, throw away that resistor. Go to your local auto parts store and buy a new ignition lock cylinder (I assume yours broke). They come with the wire harness for the VATS. Then, take your registration and I.D. to the local GM...

    Value of 69 project car.

I would not pay anymore than the $1,500 I paid just a few years ago, if I had to buy it again. I agree, you can't put a "price" on doing this, but it is wise to consider as you proceed to help make sure the car will be finished some day.

    Value of 69 project car.

check out my 69 at www.mcspeed.homestead.com I paid $1,500 for this car and have $50K plus in building it with 98% of the work done myself. Is it worth it? Only the owner can determine that. I would do it again in a heartbeat!

    Cool DIY Radar Detector Mount

I saw a kit like this somewhere in a magazine once, and thought it was pretty cool. The idea of getting your radar detector off the dash, off the glass, and in a safe place is of interest to me. Here is what I did. I took the suction cup mount for the radar detector and cut the suction mount...

    Water Temp Switch??????

Make sure that the sensor portion of the unit does not make contact with the bushing. Thread to thread is okay. If the lower smooth sensor tip touchs or grounds against the bushing, you will not get the correct reading as when you tighten it, there may be damage to the sensing portion. This...

    5 or 6 speed conversion kit for c 3

TZracer just ordered the heavy duty FIVE from Keisler, and should be ready to install it in the near future. I am running the Richmond Six. Both are excellent. The Richmond is not rated to handle as much power as the Keisler Five speed heavy duty unit. This is a easy conversion for anybody...

Collector Car Insurance - Add Comment

These are the only guys I trust for specialty coverage. They have written my cars in the past and do a great job. The best part is, they are very liberal on usage. I just got my Mom a Street Rod policy through them for the 23 T-bucket with high limits, full coverage, etc at $200 a...

    Hooker Header/side pipe install problem:

I am going to try to get a pic of my car today, or next couple of days as a close up where the pipes come out under the fender. Maybe we can compare notes.

    Hooker Header/side pipe install problem:

Does the driver side header hit the steering gear box? Keep us posted. We just wrapped up a Hooker pipe install on a 81 small block this weekend, and fired it off for the first time. I had a lot of luck by welding the mount studs to the frame rails after hand fitting the leg pipes to see...

    Hooker Header/side pipe install problem:

OUCH! Are your motor mounts good? Are they aftermarket, original OEM, etc.???? Are you sure it is matching numbers block, and not by some chance a tall deck truck block? Has the car been in a significant accident? Outside of defective headers, any one of these above items can cause your...
