Dave,
If the car will be left in storage all winter then it is best to just leave the conv top up and latched as normal and put the hardtop in storage.
These tops are a real pain to remove as an assembly and then get back in place correctly adjusted when you want to us it again.
If you...
Norval,
I am amazed at the amount of weight that you cut out of the rotors up to this point. It will be very interesting to see the total weight after all the holes are drilled and the hats are installed.
This is great stuff. Keep all the pics and info coming. We all love your engineering...
Wow! Those are huge, Norval.
I can't wait to see the finished product all assembled with the larger hat and all the lightening work done.
What kind of calipers are you going to use?
Where did you manage to get a rotor that size with no hat builts into it?
Take care,
Brian
Your car is going to look great Barry!
I have used that "glass it shut" technique many times....then you just cut a new door gap and sand to fit.....works great
John,
Those stories you recount on occaision are just great.....don't ever stop throwing them in here.
The bit about Mitchell in leathers......what a visual;LOL
It looks fantastic Norval. You did a great job of making it "blend" into the interior. I can't wait to see pics of the car from outside with all the doors closed. The cage should be nearly invisible. Too cool.
Thanks for posting those photos, that is very cool.
Does anyone else remember an article in one of the Corvette publications a number of years ago that was about this display and who had it in their possesion now?
Or am I just dreaming in Technicolour again...........
Hi Norval,
Your project looks like it is really coming along. As always, your explanations and photo details are very informative. Keep on giving us all updates.
I will be very interested to hear your opinions on how quiet it will be in the car after this.
Since the Dynamat is so...
Kurt,
I don't think that the new frame will "hurt the value" of your car. Any new part that is the exact replacement for any original part can only enhance the car due to it's superior condition.
I think that you analysis that it is better do get a new frame is good.
I personally, would...
Kurt,
For what it's worth, have you looked into getting a brand new frame from these folks?
http://www.vetteproducts.net/
The frames are made from the original GM stamping dies and are exact replicas.
If I need a serious frame repair on my next project, I will invest in one of these...
Hi Norval,
It looks great. You have really put a lot of thought into getting the assembly to be quite ergonomic and not very easy to see from outside the car. This should stiffen up the car quite a bit.
I like all the custom fittings that you made for the tubing ends on the swing outs...nice...
Hi GEC,
If your car is an original Canadian car (as in sold new through a Canadian Chevrolet Dealer) then these folks will be able to give you all the info on your car.

I have contacted these fine folks at GM Canada in the past...
Hi Mike,
Sorry I don't know the measurement that you are looking for........I just wanted to tell you that that sounds like a very cool project.
Post some pics of your project so that we can all enjoy it with you.
What brand of turbos are you using?
What type of engine mods?
Sounds very...
Yeah Bob,
I have followed your car in traffic. Watching the folks reactions, I would say that it is about as subtle as a Top Fuel dragster showing up at a ricer race meet:D
Take care,
Brian
Wow Dennis,
That is very cool! Now I could put an injected 502 in my car with only a hood change:D
How much did you have to shorten the runners?
Keep the info coming on this one....this is great.
Take care,
Brian
Super looking car Larry!
I look forward to every post of your progress.....keep all the pics and info coming.
Can't wait to see it completed. Solid axle cars have a special place in my heart.
Take care,
Brian
If they are slow going up but not bad going down it could be the assist spring that is on the power window regulator. They can snap and fall off into the bottom of the door causing the poor lift speed due to no spring assistance.
Happened to both windows on my wife's '78
Hope his helps:)...
