ROD Six speed now installed...and test drive complete

I took pictures of the X member, but have not uploaded them yet to my site. The cruise RPM at 80 is right around 2,000 RPM. I was pushing 16 mpg running the car hard (at 80-85 mph) on the last two trips. I have not tweaked the computer yet. Two vs. One overdrive? Well, it is up to you...

Project Anti-Ken-A Very Low Budget 350 build

You need to give it a light scuff and shoot clear over it to get that super wet, slick, easy to clean, durable look.

    Bought my 454

Bill, That block does not have the mounting holes for the roller kit. Either the block is a bit older, or they did not have those available in 92. No problem, there are plenty of great flat tappet combos out there. That is what I have in Killer.

    Bought my 454

Bill, A "roller" block often came with a flat tappet cam. Here is he difference. The roller block with have a couple (three) threaded holes running along the cam ridge that goes from front to back of the engine right in the lifter galley. The bore that the lifters sit in is also different...

    rear wheel well fiberglass

Good question. I would think this would be better obtained from a donor car. You can rebuild this yourself with raw fiberglass materials, some cardboard, and creativity. Paragon reproductions has salvage parts and could most likely cut the inner wells out for you. You would have to then...

    Almost Stalls

two things. One, float level in your carb is too low, or off. When you stop hard the slosh of fuel causes it to stumble as it runs out of gas, or floods over the top of the bowl. Two...(and least likely) a bad vacuum booster on your brakes that is allowing a vacuum leak when you nail it hard...

    tremec and t56 tranny!! help!!

Keisler already has this figured out. For $3,000 you can get a TKO five speed to fit your car. For $4,000 you can get a T56 with the .5 OD set to fit your car. As far as modding it on your own...it can be done. The shifter will stick through the wrong spot. No worries if you are not worried...

Question on applying body assembly rivets

Dave, The problem is some of these rivets are deep in the interior of the body...meaning that you more or less need two people. One on top of the rivet to hold it in place, and the other on the other side of the car with the punch and hammer. It is a very crude way of doing things. You are...

    Bought my 454

Hey, if it is...no worries. Port polish and trick up the heads. It should have a roller cam. If not, get one that is a EFI match. The EFI systems from Edelbrock is a direct match for that engine that I posted earlier. All that leaves you to do is figure out the header issue if any. You...

    Tranny Question on my '69

They have had quite a bit of exposure in Vette magazine over the last year or so. I have no direct business experience with them, but I did talk to Mike. He seems to know what he is doing, and his crew is dedicated to making precision quality modifications and repairs. They are on the cutting...

Coating the Inside of the Frame Rails

Bob, I bought a wand kit from Eastwood and some 3m rust prevention stuff from the local auto paint store. The 3m stuff was a waxy subtance designed to constantly creep, move, and bond to the metal. When I had the frame suspended by hooks in the ceiling, I put the want head in the frame rail...

    Early C4 Dash repair/recover

Passenger side view. Notice...NO speaker holes or grilles! The defrost duct is now accentuated by an actual bezel. The bezel is serving one main purpose That is to keep the vinyl down and tight, and give a finished look to the hole. Otherwise, it would peel back in the heat of the sun, and...

    Early C4 Dash repair/recover

Very hard to take pics of as the dust in the air, on the dash, and reflection of the glass made this tough...but you might get the idea. Here is the driver side view.

Early C4-cool detailing trick-instrument panels and trim

Here is a pic, It is very hard to see, as the interior is still in pieces. I just want you to see how smooth and slick the center console is. Before it was dry and crusty looking.

Early C4-cool detailing trick-instrument panels and trim

Hey guys, I am slowly putting the dash, etc. back together on the 85. I noticed that the plastic trim (shifter console, center console, and gauge bezel) looked terrible. They had a dull scratchy look. I tried armor all, etc, but it just compounded the issue. In other words, it made it...

Question on applying body assembly rivets

I ran into this as well. I worked with the folks at Paragon Reproductions to make sure I got the exact correct length rivet for each part. I was not after an exact factory duplicate smash. However, I too learned that you must have the correct length rivet for the hole. When I tried to put...

That is the oil cooler. The bb has the oil passage running along the bottom of the block just above the oil pan. Wow...spal fans and all....It just keeps getting better. Hey...67, .400 is a Huge difference! I got 100 thousands stuck in my head from somewhere.... Anyway...that would be a...
