    64 brakes

Another possibility, which may be off-the-wall: The brakes are self-adjusting (threaded rod in a threaded cylinder extending between the shoes... the one with the adjustment star wheel on it) which is activated when the car is driven in reverse gear; I think those adjusters appear the same...

    Steering Box...Correct way to fill

The following was gleaned from other sources and is not from my personal experience: Use GM#12377985 chassis lube (whitish-yellow, but NOT the same stuff as lubriplate). The lube used in many other GM steering gears (1052182) is NOT the right stuff, it's too thin and will leak. I note that Long...

2 part question regarding paint on C1

http://www.autocolorlibrary.com/aclsupport.htm sells PPG acrylic lacquer Another possibility: http://www.williamwolf.com I haven't used either vendor, nor can I answer your question about legality in New York.

    C1 technical manuals

Service Guide (ST-12) & Assembly Info Manual (AIM). An original parts manual if you can find one (I don't think they're reproduced). Catalogs such as Corvette Central's and Dr. Rebuild's are also helpful

    Correct Fan

    17 and 1/8 inches, 5-blade. A/C cars use 18 inch 7-blade fans.

    More C2 production trivia

Was the car originally white? 972 is the exterior paint code for white, but that doesn't explain the dashes, and I'd expect to see the paint code underneath the car on the vertical surface in front of the gas tank.

    I need your help..

Need a bit more information about the tap. Can we assume the noise isn't there when the car is not moving? Otherwise I expect you could use a mechanic's stethescope and/or a rubber hose to localize the noise. If the noise isn't there with the car not moving, then: When you say the noise...

    Power brake conversion

There is a plastic boot behind the booster (protects the portion of the pushrod sticking out from the firewall) that may not come with the booster. You will have to drill holes in the slanted area of the firewall above the booster for the booster bracket bolts (will your M/C come with a...

    tight u-joint

After you've installed the U-joints and flanges on the half-shafts, use a steel hammer to lightly but firmly tap the half-shaft (or flange) "ears" that are bored for the U-joint caps... tap around the base of the ears (not on the caps themselves) where you won't hurt anything and the vibrations...

    Question on engine suffix

I couldn't find any reference for the trailing "H", but I agree with your assessment: it came out of a full-size '66 Chevy with Powerglide, 275hp. Casting number is right for a 300hp or 350hp Corvette, but not the stamping suffix.

    Rough Running 327/365

Corvette Central sells a rebuild kit for the shifter (and other vendors may, as well). Your first 2 purchases for your new Corvette should be a shop manual and an AIM (assembly Instruction Manual).

    Rally Wheels for '65

Interestingly, the chart shows the "FW" wheel as 7", whereas all the prior references I've seen list it as 6"... so it has either one quarter inch or three quarter inch less clearance to the trailing arm than a "DC", depending on which references are correct! I tried a google search to try to...

    steering gear

Original GM #1052084 lube is NLA. Correct replacement stuff is said to be GM #12377985 (whitish-yellow in color, but not the same stuff as general purpose white lithium grease). Dunno what form GM sells it in, though. GM #1052182 is used in many GM steering boxes, but is said to be too...

    Rally Wheels for '65

I don't think FW was used on 67 Corvettes, but I'm not sure what they WERE used on. From info I've gleaned from forums in the past, it has at least a quarter inch more backspace than the DC (although less than 15x5.5 steel wheels) and has been reported to cause interference between an inside...

    Glove box door lock

I've never had it done, but I suspect a locksmith may be able to help. Vendors (like Corvette Central, for example) can supply a glovebox lock cylinder w/key for about $30, or an entire matched set of locks (ignition, doors, glovebox, and spare tire) for about $160.

    Rally Wheels for '65

You may find the 15x7 rally's harder to find than 15x6. I think they only came on 68 Corvettes and early Monte Carlos; later Vette rally's are 8". Either 15x6 or 15x7 will probably work with the 215/65-15 tires, although a more common choice is 215/70-15 because they are said to be closer to the...

    C2 Holley fast idle adjustment

Seems like you guys are making this tougher than it needs to be... when you are doing this fast idle adjustment, you can place the tang and the fast idle cam to any position you want it, so start the car, open the throttle, rotate the cam until the tang is on the top step of the cam, and then...

    C2 Holley fast idle adjustment

As I recall... if you look at the choke linkage, I think there is a rotating fast idle cam (formed plastic piece) positioned in it's arc of swing by the link coming up from the choke coil. With the engine cold, open the throttle linkage on the driver side while looking at the choke linkage on...
