    Harmonic Balancer

Easy to find out... replace the water pump before the fan goes through the radiator, then see if you still have a vibration. Vibration could be due to an imbalance in the flywheel, a slight miss in one cylinder, bad motor mounts, fraying or loose belt, bad bearings on an alternator/accessory...

    Stated Value vs Stated Amount...again

BarryK said: "yeah, that Errors and Emmissions isurance they are required to carry isn't worth the paper they print it on!" Actually, it's "Errors and Omissions" insurance, and I suspect you have to sue the agent who made the omission, in order to get paid. It depends on whether the agent is an...

Go down to your local thrift shop and buy a boom box.

    Tire size questions

The only comment I can make is from an info screen on the tire calculator of this website... "This calculation is the straight inch equivalent of the section width you selected. The section width of a tire varies depending on the width of the wheel on which it is mounted. Tire manufacturers...

That irritating drop of oil on the drain plug

You might try putting a light coat of plumber's sealer or silicone sealer or liquid gasket sealer (like "brush-in-can" Permatex Aviation sealer) on the drain plug threads when the oil is changed. Or wrap teflon plumber's tape around the threads. Worth a shot.

Can this amount of clearance for the motor mount be right????

Doesn't look right to me either, seems like you need a larger diameter bolt, or a steel bushing/sleeve of some sort. How does the bracket fit within the mount, fore & aft, is it snug with the washers in place?

It was the best of days, it was the worst of days.

Just curious: "picked up by Fed Ex"... does Fedex ship cars??? Never heard of that.

    Only one brake light

From the electrical diagram for my 63... The harness connector on the turn signal switch on the lower steering column has slot connectors in a 3-2-1 row configuration. On a 63 the 2-connector row feeds the rear turn signals, with a purple wire going to the driver side tail light and a violet...

Fule Injected '58 Katrina Flood Victim on EBay

Unfortunately, the buyer will find that out over time. Water will (or may) affect all the electrical system... every device, switch, actuator, motor, and connection can corrode, as can all metal pieces that were never expected to get wet. The water may have carried contaminants like fine sand...

    stolen car from 1969 recovered

I expect that such cars may get caught when an unsuspecting owner goes to a new state (or changes insurance companies) and they inspect the car thoroughly and find the engine number doesn't jive with the frame number and/or the body number, and the probable correct number turns up stolen. The...

    C2 battery issues.....thoughts?

You did not specify, but I assume that because you are thinking about a battery disconnect switch, the battery goes dead while the car is sitting. If so, it would seem you have a current draw from a circuit that is not switched (ie, not turned on and off with the ignition). Look for lights on...

    Factory Option

Well, I doubt the factory would have used a wrench like that one.... but, hmmmm, the patina on the wrench matches the patina on the frame! It's amazing the thing stayed stuck on there. Sure you're not missing a wrench from your set???

Built a smaller version of my dad's '61 for his Christmas present.

That's going to blow his mind! Shrink-wrapped, no less. What a neat present! Hard to imagine a more thoughtful gift.

    Gel-Kote by Evercoat

I am no expert, but I've read and collected posts on this subject (and many others) for years. Most posters warn against using gelcoat. One interesting article I read in Vette Magazine (Aug 2001, page 55) was about a 53 Corvette with a rather rough body being professionally restored to very...

    front turn signal cable - C1 - 60 - HELP!!!!

I don't think it comes off... follow the wiring pigtail and see if there isn't a wiring connection about 18 inches or so away from the lamp.

adding conventional motor mounts to '60 frame....HELP!!!!!

I think Corvette Central offers a kit (301235) for a pair of motor mount brackets to take the C2 (replacement) locking mounts, but they will require cutting and welding as they are not made for an exact fit.

    C2 on jackstands - 2 questions

Barry, things are always going to move some... when you raise the jack, the arm swings up in an arc, moving upward, and at the same time, toward the rear of the jack. So if the arm stays planted on the frame, either the jack or the car HAS to move to accomodate the arc as the top end of the...

    64 injected roadster

Don't be too hard on the guy, he apparently had a change of heart. He didn't renege on a contract with you. When you get some years behind you, you may do the same thing sometime.... decide to sell, then just can't do it when it comes right down to it. At least this guy doesn't have the car...
