Midyear Convertible Top Assembly - How Much$$$?

$700 sounds like a reasonable market price to me (I'm still kicking myself for not buying one back in the late 70's for $75 at a swap meet, but who knew?). Bare C1 top frames bring $1500+ in nice condition, and I think I've seen some C2 top frames go in the $700 to $1200 range on eBay.

    Linkage Question

Looks like a stock Muncie shifter to me (1964 and later).

    Original 3 bar KH K/Os & Pre-Dot tires/original wheel/hubcap value (1963) help?

These are my opinions, assuming correct parts in mint condition...watch ebay for awhile to get more accurate estimates: Probably around $3000 to $3500 for the KO's Probably around $1500 for the 5 sets of wheels, tires, and 4 hubcaps

HELP need info on ORIGINAL Knockoffs for 63...

My understanding is that the originals were all Kelsey Hayes, and that what you are looking at is early repros made by Western before the repros were produced with lock pins. KO's without lock pins are fine as long as they are correctly installed (heavy blows with a lead hammer) and rechecked...

    Linkage Question

The link to the pic didn't work for me. "Big and clunky" sounds like a Hurst shifter or some other aftermarket setup meant for rough use at the drag strip... which can be desirable, or undesirable, depending on how it fits, since it may not have been designed specifically to fit in your Vette...

    Linkage Question

My understanding has always been that the shifter setups are interchangeable between the BW and Muncie 4 speed transmissions... what shifter does your 58 currently have? Try this link: http://www.gccorvettes.com/Catalogs/catalogs.htm Click on 58-62 catalog to get a downloaded pdf...

    master brake cylinder rebuild

Here's a couple I've seen recommended in the past (I've not used them): Imperial machine, 621 S. 112th St, Lincoln NE 68250 402-466-9450 http://www.stainlesssteelbrakes.com/restoration (Clarence NY) I can't recall hearing anything derogative about SS inserts.

Proper heads for late 67 L-79???

NCRS spec guide says 462 heads (only) are correct for L-79. There was an overlap in production dates of the 2 heads, so the 291's may have been in use by Chevy (on other models), but I believe the NCRS book (mine is dated 1997; by John Amgwert) would have picked up on any use in 67 Corvettes.

    Identifying Different Brake Fluids

Silicone fluid starts out a light purple in color, but it has a tendency to turn clear after being in a brake system awhile. Dot3 starts out as clear with a slight yellowish tint. I'm not sure if this would work, but you could try putting a little fluid in a small glass container (hold it up...

    C2 bumper hardware question.

I think you can find sheet rubber squares (about 6" x 6") at the plumbing supply store, they are used as universal gasket material.

    sizing torq thrust II's on a 65

Here's a size chart: http://www.streetortrack.com/torq-thrust-II.asp Frankly, you risk damage with anything wider than 6 inches, which you may be able to get as a custom size for additional cost. I doubt you could get a satisfactory fit with an 8" rim, you'd at least have to install offset...

    TH 350 for my '65

Forget the TH350, it needs rebuilding, too. If you're going to the trouble & expense of a conversion rather than just rebuilding the Powerglide tranny, why not go with a 700R4 and get the advantage of overdrive? These guys may be able to help you figure out what all you'll need (driveshaft...

    C2 taillight repair question

I'm confused... have you tried to find out why your backup lights aren't working? You should be able to remove the lenses and bulbs and use a multimeter to see if the sockets are getting 12v and are grounded... if no power at the sockets with the tranny in reverse and the lights turned on, check...

    Rechrome shop nearest northern Ohio???

Due to EPA regs, the cost of materials & labor, etc, he's right... it often is cheaper to buy new, especially if the part needs any repair work in addition to chroming. If you have rare or irreplaceable parts, or if you want high quality chrome work, quality costs more. With that vendor, at...
