    Falken Tires

Hey, thought I would jump in on this post. I just purchased the Kumho Ecsta tires for my 92. Got the 285 40 17's @ 4 and will have them installed Wednesday of this week. I purchased them through Tire Rack for $119 ea. due to tight funds (started a business). Anyway, I'm curious about other...

    optispark

I doubt you will fix the problem by replacing the Opti with a new one. It sounds like you have a small fluid leak right around the Opti that may be causing this problem. Unfortunately the water pump and hoses in/out are very close to the Distributor. Any leak will cause even a new Opti to...

    Aftermarket Horsepower?

OOPS Didn't see the pole until after my reply. For some reason the pole did not show up. Makes me look like a heal.

    Aftermarket Horsepower?

Your question is very open ended. If taken literally I'd say a supercharger or twin turbo setup.

    LT4 LT1 to LT4 Conversion

There has got to be more people out there who have done this upgrade to their C4 LT1. I'm curious if this kit can be installed on an L98? Wayne

    LT4 LT4 heads question

Try looking in the following thread "LT1 to LT4 Conversion" in the C4 Mods forum. Tuna has taken the LT4 head and Hot Cam kit and installed it on his LT1, and I think the heads were ported. Granted it's not the LT4 bottom end but I think his results may give you a baseline to look at with...

    LT4 LT1 to LT4 Conversion

Tuna. I think you will get to 425 no problem with your next mods. Your peak HP at 5750 will most likely be pushed up when the headers are installed. I doubt you will peak at 6K which in my opinion, anytime you can make that kind of power without reving stratospheric revs your doing good.

    LT4 LT1 to LT4 Conversion

Tuna. Those numbers are outstanding. I'm thinking your right around 395 HP at the crank and about 410 TQ. Your also getting roughly 20 extra HP and 25 TQ from the Corsa's which is more (I think) than they advertise for a stock LT1 which is about 15 extra ponies. (I don't have the numbers in...

    LT4 LT1 to LT4 Conversion

From what I can gather, you wont need anything. Your 95 LT1, I think, already has the taller valve covers and the correct AC bracket. My 92 has shorter covers and shorter bracket so I would have to replace them due to the larger Roller Rocker arms that come with the kit. You already have the...

    LT4 LT1 to LT4 Conversion

Firedawg, Thanks for the web site. I think I'll be doing some shopping at GMPartsDirect. Definetly the cheapest around.

    LT4 LT1 to LT4 Conversion

Tuna, Kudo's for the pics. The valve covers, intake and injector covers look sharp. My original intent was to just gather information but I'm really starting to think about this mod. Vader86, You have some good input as well going with porting the heads and intake. What's a ball park...

    LT4 LT1 to LT4 Conversion

Tuna. You mentioned needing new (taller) valve covers. I noticed a bracket that huggs the front/top of the drivers side valve cover. There may be a gap of 1/4 inch and that is all. I don't think anything taller than 1/4 inch will fit. Did you have any problems aligning the brackets, or...

    LT4 LT1 to LT4 Conversion

Tuna. Did you install the kit yourself or have someone else do it. Also, was the price about the same for the parts when you purchased from GM PartsDirect compared to the 2300 I'm seeing from Summit?

    LT4 LT1 to LT4 Conversion

Looking through one of the corvette magazines I noticed the LT1 to LT4 upgrade kit for around $2300 from Summit. It says "The kit will give you a proven 425+ HP" . On top of that it says all I need are computer engine management mods and a fuel rail from a 94 - 95 model. So for about $3000...

    Price check on a 1995

With that kind of mileage (83K) the life of many components are either at or beyond expectation IMO. If possible ask what has been recently replaced or serviced such as: water pump, Optispark (complete tune up), starter, Alternator, rear Bearings and U-Joints, shocks. There are visual checks...

    Throttle body cooler

IMHO, I think the gains would be minimal if any. I doubt you can get the temp much lower without running some type of cooling system or pump which takes energy to run. I remember someone asking about routing the AC line through the throttle body to act as an intercooler. Yes, there is an...

    Just Installed Magnaflow Mufflers

Green LT1 - I believe you have to cut the original exhaust pipe to fit the new mufflers. Is this true? (you mentioned pics of the connections, would be nice to see). Also, would like to know if any resonance at normal driving speeds and at idol. I have been following most of the threads on...

    Cheep C4 Autocross Vette

84 had the throttle body injection, starting in 85 -91 was the Tunned Port Injection. I'd suggest going with an 85 and newer just for that reason. I think both 84 and 85 models had very stiff suspensions in stock form which makes for a good autoX car. Look in the Model Center on this web site...

Does Gear ratio affect HP rating on a Dyno?

Ken, thanks... I'm still struggeling with the 1:1 ratio being the baseline. As you mentioned 1:1 in an auto is 3rd gear and in a stick is 4th. However, this still does not take into account the rear gear ratio which can be a variable. I guess my question should be: When dyno testing do you...
