"...Projects are never complete! If they were, then we have lost our creativity!"
If that quote is true, then Dave has to be the most creative person I know! :hb
Right now he is out in the shop with Bruiser up on jack stands. The leaf spring is out. The rear-end is out. The trans was out...
<just a question, what type of wheels are they? and what are the dimensions?>
The wheels are from John Purner at Complete Custom Wheels in Daytona. The fronts are 10.5x18 and the rears are 12x18. The backspace is 4.5 in the front and 5 in the rear.
Dave,
Now that Bruiser has been taken for it's first drive, I can tell you that all the work you have ahead of you will be well worth it.
Any time you get frustrated and start throwing those tools, call Chris or Dave up and they'll take you for a ride. You'll be so hopped up, you'll be out in...
Man! What a high!!!! I think we have sensory overload! Every car addict knows what the overdose is like and we are still enjoying it.
Not only the first drive, but the two black beasts together, side by side, with the sounds of the pipes bouncing off each other was magic.
No sleep last...
I think it would be okay to use your old condenser, but the newer ones are probably more efficient. You should definitely call Vintage Air and ask them.
The Vintage Air systems that I've seen installed have all worked very well. The cost of the system, by the time you have all the parts, runs about $1000.
Mike,
Mine is Vintage Air #VIN 68000-VUZ-A Gen II Unit. You still have to buy a compressor, condenser, dryer, etc.
The unit pretty much fits only one way under the dash. It leaves about 2-3" behind the firewall in the passenger compartment. Once the old heater core is out of the way, I just...
We installed it in our '71. You can see a picture at:

There are more pics on the site at:

You may be able to see where it comes thru the fire wall into the engine compartment in one of the...
I am just about finished rebuilding our '71 from the bottom up. You can see the project step-by-step on our website http://www.tropiczoneracing.com/Street-Vette.htm
We ran into considerable rust problems. Of the four Corvettes where we looked at birdcage structures, all had considerable...
First of all...we did check with the Florida DMV, which is the state we live in, and they said it was okay as previously posted. Other states/circumstances may be different. No matter what, our odometer did not reflect the actual mileage on the car.
Our trip odometer was missing a gear...
I don't think John is a member of this site. John is at Red Line Gauge and Clock Repair. We sent John our odometer and he repaired the trip odometer, set the odometer back to zero and basically checked the whole thing over for us.
It looks like Red Line specializes in GM repairs. His...
I called the FL DMV and confirmed that it is okay to reset the odometer back to zero. As Chris said, if we sell the car, we must indicate that the odometer doesn't reflect the proper mileage.
The DMV realizes that the older cars with only 5 digit odometers may already have rolled over once and...
Does anyone know an easy way to set the odometer back to zero? Currently the odometer reads about 70,000. So it needs to be advanced a lot of miles to be back to zero.
Seeing how our we are completely rebuilding the car and the odometer in it isn't even the original one, I think it would be...
Thanks John.
Chris' body work/paint has thrown down the gauntlet. I MUST now make sure the handling and engine power are equal to the looks. They will be. :bu
We took a couple of pictures outside today. This should give you a better idea of Chris' 'rough' paint job. In person, it looks awsome! We had some trouble taking pictures because of all the reflections in the paint.
Do you need huge HP in the new bruiser?
With the Olds making 600 hp, the Vette only needs to make a little over 1 hp/cubic inch to match. Torque will probably not be a problem. Driveshafts and rear gears may be a problem.
:bu
The 3 together would be pretty wild. We'll need a Phillips 66 tanker truck to follow us.
We have engine parts, heads, etc., on order. Trying to make more hp than the Olds. (see...no name!).
I'm starting to believe Chris when he says that my car will look as good as his. That would be...
