    emblem painting

Yes. The front and the rear emblem. Took them both off. Wet sanded them to get the rest of the paint off. Much was worn off on the top. Then carefully pry off the plastic inserts that cover the cross flags and logo. Then I let my wife take over. She's a very fine detail painter and does lots of...

NOS....wet or dry for 85 TPI??

Check these guys out for a dry kit. They have an LT1 version. Not sure what they could do for the 85. Looks interesting though... www.zex.com graham

    Hypertech, SuperChips, Etc., Etc.,

Yeah, what he said :D I've got their chip and 160deg stat. I can tell the difference and I'm really happy with their service. Graham

    Roof Support Bars

Would this be what you are referring too? Look under Targa Truss. Also check out the Camber Brace. I hear lots of positive comments on it. Thinking of getting one of those next. www.r-dracing.com Graham

K&N Air Filter vs Stock any REAL gains?

There is only 1 K&N filter. I bought one from Autozone for my wifes car. It is the real thing. Cost me $36 for her car. I opted on the K&N and open lid and went with the SLP breather that has 3 K&N cones. That definetely makes an improvement. I beleive that with the K&N and open lid that 4-5hp...

    Dana 36 Gear Upgrade

Doutdoor and Corvette-Pilot, If you have never done a gear swap before I would strongly recommend you do not do it. And make sure the shop you go to has done it many times before, specifically on Vettes. The guy that did my gears has worked on C4s since the 84 came out. He did the work right on...

    Performance Computer Chips???

Aftermarket chips are not worthless. I have the Ed Wright Fastchip in my92. I have minor mods on the car. The chip did make a difference. And it wasn't just turning the fans on early. When I talked to them they told me not to bother with a custom burnt chip for a stock engine. Big waste of...

    Trans Fluid Change Help

Welcome aboard :CAC Ok here is my opinion, I'm sure you'll get more :-) Not knowing its history and with those miles I can see why some people would say that. I disagree. But there are two ways to change it. One is to let a quick change place do one of those power flushes. That will get the...

    Dana 36 Gear Upgrade

Well first off. Thanks for the kind words guys :D The reasoning for putting those calculations together is just what you are going through. I actually have them in a spreadsheet. Like some of you my concern from 2.59 to 3.54 and 3.73 was based on how much more RPM I would use up. I too was a...

    convertible gears

hehehe :D Yeah you bet. I swapped from 2.59 to 3.54. What a wakeup call for the car. Definetely the thing it was missing. You should still feel a difference even going up .5. Most certainly going up 1.0 made a huge difference. In 2nd gear the A4 should be a blast for low speed autox. I'll find...

    convertible gears

regalniz, If you have the G92 then it is a 3.07. At 72mph you would be running exactly 2000rpm. 2000=(((3.07*72)/26.0)*336)*0.7 first, yes 3.45 with 6sp in 91. Only option was GM4 - 3.54. I haven't heard of too many ordered with that. c4cruiser, the 3.07 was the default in the early 4+3 cars...

    Brake too soft?

I've got a 92 and I would not say the brakes are soft. But I guess it depends on what you have driven and are used to. I just bled my brakes and got air out of all 4 corners on the first 2-3 pumps of the pedal. Then just fluid. Even with the air in the lines they didn't feel excessively soft...

    Bose CD mechanical problems

Thanks for posting the info Black94. I'll start digging... I'll probably end up just sending the unit off to Dr. D but before I do I'm going to inspect my unit also and go hunting. I'm sure the General and Bose have no intention of sharing the info with us. I'll bet on that part Richard :) If...

    Bose CD mechanical problems

Does anyone know what the actual CD player vendor and part number is. Rumor has it that the CD player unit is just an inexpensive Panasonic unit. Seems if you knw the right number you could just replace it. Probably oversimplifying this but I doubt the CD part shouldn't even cost $50. Graham

    Bose CD mechanical problems

You mean my factory Bose w/CD player won't play burned CDs? I have to pay 150 for a rebuild and another 150 to upgrade? I thought I heard folks say that the C4 Boses system will play burned CDs. Graham

    Can a 4L60E be built to stand up to a 396 LT1?

Take a look at www.netgearhead.com You may not want to buy a completed tranny from them but they also sell the parts to rebuild for high output applications. They have a kit for it. So you can get an idea of what they think is needed for that kind of engine. Graham

    Cutting the shroud

Actually here is my observation. And I watch the coolant and oil temp a lot. This was with the factory T-stat. At idle at a stop light there is no difference. They all run hot and don't like standing still. From 5-35mph~ the engine is probably sucking air harder than the movement of air to the...

    Cutting the shroud

thanks folks. you should see the look on my wife's face when i'm in Home Depot and the like and start eye balling stuff. she's never sure if i'm working on the house or have some new idea for the car :L c4fan - i could have got that in black, white, brown. but i figured the paint wouldn't...

    92 Optispark Recall

Well I spoke with the person who handles the warranty service and all. She said no problem. Just leave the TSB in the car when you drop it off with a note that it is a no charge service. The service manager will get it done. So it goes in tomorrow morning. I called their parts dept last week...

    Brake Pads

I'm running the PFC Carbon Metallic. Part # is Front=4124 + Rear=4134. These are 1 step below the PFC-Z that you listed. I got them from Autozone instead of doing mail order. About $120 for all 4 corners when I got them well over a year ago. I like them except for when they are stone cold. You...
