Point well taken ☺
I do believe that I made a comment and no recommendations on a repair!
And may I suggest you follow your own advise as well!
If it indeed is a "safety-related system" then we should be directing him to a trained technician.
FSM's can "clearly" confuse owners that are not...
Hib I've never worked on one of those for a brake issue, does it have separate brake shoes for the park brake like the pic or internal caliper locking?
I Googleed calipers and didn't see any that had a internal park brake

If this is your brake system you need to find another mechanic!
And if so
Your calipers have nothing to do with the park brake

The heater core would leak internally and drain out the condensate tube!
If the hose is leaking at the connection you might just need new heater hoses.
If you never replaced hoses at the core tell us you can damage the tubes easily

Red light, yellow light or both?
You need to pull trouble codes first so you know what direction to go
Without them its just to hard to help!

Pressures are controlled by system operation.
We use them to determine proper operation
R134A does run at a higher pressure and if it gets to high there is a high pressure relief built into the compressor

Its going to be!
The age of the car and the fact that it was open are good reasons to replace it.
I would replace it as close to your appointment as possible to get the system evacuated.
The next thing is how much oil to add, the receiver accumulates oil so when you remove it you also remove...
Once you opened up the system to atmosphere the decicant in you receiver/dryer started to absorb moisture. If the system was empty for a long period of time you need to replace it (dryer).
When they evacuate the system (put it in vacuum) any moisture boils off

To rule out pads you can remove them, take a piece of 320 grit in a flat surface and sand the hardened surface of from the face of the them.

Detroits Dream Cruise is this weekend and over in Grand Rapids our Metro Cruise is next weekend, I won't have time to try it before then.
BUT I definitely want to before I put her up for the season.
I watched a you tube video and I believe I can do it.
What about small scratches and chips...
I don't know what to think yet
Most of us probably remember how bad spark knock was in the 80's from most engines!
I've seen more then enough pistons with holes in them but I don't recall any with fire slotting
But then that's just from one little garage in a big world

I myself would have looked at the other 2 cylinders to see if they too were starting to show signs of failure!
If evidence of pre-ignition or excessive heat was found then the other head would be coming off for more inspection.
If there was no evidence then I would number the fuel injectors...
Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience.
Did you get pictures?
Did your tech have an expert opinion?
How many miles?
Tuner receipts?
I went after an aftermarket warranty company and at first was shot down.
Provided them with service records and facts of what happened and then was...
