    Non Run Flats Your Experience???

Thus far, I have almost decided upon choosing Michelin Pilot A/S in a 255/45/17 front and a 285/40/18 rear. My Cray Scorpion wheels are 1/2" wider than stock. Michelins won every category of tire in Consumer Reports' November 2009 tests. Frankly, I work for a Company that owns a business...

    New Computer Problem

Took my C5 to the dealer yesterday. The computer says the right rear is flat; and it was a bit low before it went to flat. No leak found, air added to 30 psi several days ago, tire gauge still says 30 psi. Computer won't reset reading on this tire, despite at least half a dozen starts, drives...

    Non Run Flats Your Experience???

Too Fast must ride with the top down all of the time so that the wind noise overwhelms the road noise. I have a friend with a new Camaro SS (with run flats) and he says that when you fold down the rear seat (making it like a Corvette coupe inside) the road noise is awful. He says that...

    VaraRam and Z06 front screens?

Easy answer, no they will not. Without the air screens you are creating a street vacuum machine that will pick up leaves, sticks, etc. and require you to clean the air filter about every 1,000 miles.

    Non Run Flats Your Experience???

I'm about to need new tires. I haven't had a flat in a vehicle in ten years, and the last one was when I ran over a huge piece of cut up scrap metal. I'm thinking about going to non run flats to cut down the road noise. i spent almost $2,000 having Kool Mats put in the front and rear and...

    They Just Look Better Lowered

Here's some of my experiences - - touchless car wash guide rails wide enough for tire but too tall to go under car - stuck on rails, - tire shops don't have lifts or floor jacks that will go under car (have to drive 40 miles to a shop that can lift car and change tires), - scatters sail cats and...

Time to look at new tires

The stock Goodyears have been discontinued! It looks like the Michelins win. I have used Michelins on other sports cars and they vastly improved the ride and road noise on every car. I've got Kool Mats in the front and back so road noise is less an issue, but if I didn't have the Kool Mats...

Time to look at new tires

I looked at new tires about a year ago and frankly there weren't many options for runflats other than replacing the Goodyears at about $400 each. Today I get a fax with the following options to fit my 2004 C5 1 - Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus, $1,057 for the set. 2 - Kumho MX Run Flat ECSTA...

    False Alarm???

Out for a Saturday drive to look at leaf colors. Computer says right rear tire is flat. Oh No! the last time I was in the car it said the right rear was low at 24 lb./sqi Turn around and head back to town and with extreme luck find a tire place open. After many struggles to get a jack under...

    Vanity PL8

My wife's 16 year old grandaughter said "WAYCOOL" when she first saw it new in 2004. That's what we put on the tag. We thought that if a spoiled rotten 16 year old who got a new BMW convertible for her 16th birthday thought it was way cool, then others might too. My favorite, but not...

    NEED HELP, Removing Vinyl Stripes

Labor is $95 an hour and the minimum at most good paint and body shops in my area is $1,000. Based on past work I have had done, my estimate is that it would have cost me about $1,500.00 to have the stripes removed. I'm not cheap either, I had a Corvette expert install my catbacks, install my...

    NEED HELP, Removing Vinyl Stripes

The 3M vinyl and woodgrain remover works like a charm. Its expensive at $20 a spray can, but one can did the whole car. It also says leave on for 10 to 15 minutes; that's way too long. It will all dry to a white powder in 15 minutes and its less effective after it drys. Put it on thick and...

    NEED HELP, Removing Vinyl Stripes

Here's the results so far. A new 1875 watt hair dryer doesn't get hot enough, so forget that idea. What seems to work best is 1) strip the stripe and surrounding paint of all wax with Dawn dishwashing liquid, 2) take a paint stripping heat gun on LOW (these get super HOT!!!) and working about...

Need a recommendation for a car cover

None are good. The NOAH is probably the best I have used, but it will let moisture through and it will let fine dust through. It works much better it you put an inexpensive cover over the NOAH.

    NEED HELP, Removing Vinyl Stripes

Here's what I have heard from the seller of these stripes. Heat from hair dryer will lossen the vinyl and allow it to be peeled off. 3M adhesive cleaner will remove the glue without harming the clear coat or paint. I 'll let you know how this works.

    Deal or no Deal.......

I would pass on it. Its very easy to drop $5-10K or more cleaning up a Vette. At that price you should be able to find a much better car and for a few grand more, a garaged cream puff. Here's my 2 cents - 1) determine the exact model/year you want, the exact colors you want (inside and out)...

    Eureka Springs GTG.....Anyone going??

Tips for Eureka Springs - Best Places to Eat - Cafe Santa Fe (and I usually don't like Mexican) on Main a few blocks past all of the tourist shops, and best burger is at a little ice cream shop about two blocks further out on Main (closes at 4:00 PM). Sparky's burgers are pretty good but...

    NEED HELP, Removing Vinyl Stripes

I bought one of those "anniversary" striping kits from a vendor on one of the Corvette forums in September 2004. This is the "decal" type that you just wet, place on car, smooth out the wrinkes and bubbles and then let dry. They are great for about 3 years or so, then they start to shrink...

Warning! Got a royal Screwing from Eckler's

I have had very good luck with West Coast Corvette, and some of their sales are awesome. For example, I got a lambskin C5 jacket from them on sale for $79 and I have seen the same jacket at others for close to $500.
