Update on progress and advice needed

That interior is coming together nicely, it looks great!! I've used chemical strippers in the past, but haven't done it in a while. Then wet sanding to finish the job. Maybe a check of the paint and body supply stores will have some good suggestions? I used a water soluble stripper that...

    replacing headers

Putting headers on isn't too bad a job, and is certainly done from below. You'll have to figure out a spacer for the A/C bracket too, but no big deal there. You'll have to do something with the AIR tubes that currently go into the top of the current exhasut but you can plug them or remove the...

That's a great idea Evo, if I can't get the cold start figured out, I'll ping him. Thanks!

    No Check Engine Light

I'd think the owners manual would tell you when you should see the check engine light, but the service manual is a great tool to have! If it's not set by the ECM when you test it, you can check for 12v but you'd never see it.

    81 project

Thanks Peter! Yep, I'm really happy with the performance of the carburetor. There is zero hesitation, the transition to the secondary circuit is seamless (as it should be), there are no leaks, or stumbles that I can detect. The only issue is the cold starting. The choke is set per specs, so...

    81 project

Okay, it's in running, and most of the tuning is done. It's still a bit rich at idle, but I don't intend to drive at idle!! :) Seriously though, in talking with Cliff Ruggles, I found out that on the later Q-jets, the idle mixture screw holes in the base plates weren't tapped all the way in...

    Rebuild engine stalls

Sounds like the needle and seat aren't working, or the float level is way to high. I'd start there...

Thanks for the comment! No, I didn't have a problem with the crank pulley, but it's close. There's enough clearance to change the belt, and that works for me. I used the crank pulley I got with the serpentine brackets. Those actually came off a 92 chevy V6 pick up. I made the mounting...

It's full!! Started getting the engine/trans in the car this weekend. I was really hoping to fire it late Sunday, but the place I ordered the wire harness for the electric fans is having a supply issue. I've got another source, but, I'll have to wait till the end of the week. Got the engine...

    Can 78-82 T-Tops fit a 76?

I can understand that. I have glass tops and would really rather have fiberglass....

    Can 78-82 T-Tops fit a 76?

Do you have a Assembly Instruction Manual for your car? The AIM will show you exactly what's there and how it was put in by the factory, before you take it apart.

OUCH!, the pain in my heart...

I watched the effort and time that went into getting Gail her new dress...sorry to see this happen, but like has already been said, it's good you weren't hurt. It doesn't look like Gail was hurt too badly, and she can certainly be fixed!
