Mike, we are now calling this car Waldo, it is still not here. Two weeks on a transport crossing the southern US everyday we go online "where's Waldo?" When it gets here then I can start diggin through it. Paperwork "docs" are on the way too from NC.

John, Thank you! A real explanation that makes sense. :happyanim: So if my car has a correct engine, casting is proper & and date is accurate but the pad is inaccurate the deduction is minimal? So is it better then to leave the pad as is or blank?
Chris
I noticed on one of the boards "Corvette C3 Registry" there is a bio on a 69 L88 where the owner is stating that 1.65% of the 69's were saddle leather. Where would he have gotten this info? :ugh they don't publish that info

I don't disagree, I find it quite odd that NCRS would word it like that. There is a regional coming up next month, I plan to attend. For the purpose of gaining knowledge. I have applied to be a observer judge and would also like to attend judges school. I would think it would make more sense to...
Don't know where you get your info Mikey. Im have in front of me NCRS JUDGING - OWNERS ADVISORY just sent to me this week
Definitions of Counterfeit vs Restoration
"NCRS does not consider the restoration or replacement of components as counterfeit as long as the intent is to restore the car to...
Yeah I know, I find it odd that NCRS considers restamping a correct but not original to the car engine ok in their eyes. Wouldn't one think that only the born with engine would have the pad stamped? I haven't dug into this car yet but the prior owners statement is that it is 100% with exception...
It seems on the older cars that just about everything has a "Number" "Date Code" or some other relivent info on parts of our beloved corvette's. :ugh
So what constitues "Numbers Matching" & just how many items on the cars are marked? Once I start digging through this car where is a good place...
Oh No! :ugh I hope you had good insurance? Just once I would like to catch someone doing that. I'm 6"5" 250 perhaps I could teach them to never try it again!

The 68-9 427 Block, so is that sept 68?
Having a late 68 would that maybe be a logical replacement motor if someone bought a car new and blew it up right away? or would GM have used some other block CE? or something?

Had a few beers with my friend who has owned a shop for 30 yrs. I thought he had a good idea. Get it, drive it, enjoy it. when you want to sell her then do the mechanicals first! After that. Soda Blast! In his opinion "the only way" But why spend the dough and drive it! Fresh resto's bring more...
I want to repaint my car in the correct laquer. What are the opinions on getting off the old poorly applied paint and getting down to bare glass?
Media Blasting? Soda Blasting? any ideas. :ugh

Very true. I wasn't looking to go that deep. More like How many British Green/Saddle
Back in the day I worked at a Chev Dealership and recall that any mid-year changes were allways in the form of a bullitin. One of two things had to be the case. Either they introduced #421 Saddle Leather as a...
I have heard this before. Makes it very hard to determine if your car is 1 of 100 or 1 of 25000? :eyerole
Is this true of all production stats? I know they will say that only X% were this or that for a single option (other than interior) So there is no combination stats such as how many British...
I have noticed in all the published material (even Black Book) that Saddle is not an available interior option for 1968 but there is a mention in Black Book that it has been verified on some cars. My car is a very late production K14 and it certainly has 421 Saddle leater w/headrests. My...
