Rob:
You are correct about the learning curve for the C5-R team (by the way they had excellant drivers that knew Le Mans).
The points that I was making without going into too much detail was that the Corvette started racing with their factory configured displacement and could not be even...
Hib Baby:
Sorry that I have not replied to your wonderful post, but I have been out with a sinus infection. Being an internet writer and automotive expert, you obviously know more that everyone around here and the rest of the Corvette and GM world. You also seem to think that you know more...
T:
Just remember that with all of the power that a TT or a blower can add to your engine, it doesn't mean a thing if the car's chassis and suspension can't handle it. You pretty much reduce your car to a straight liner that can barely keep itself on the track.
The other thing that you need to...

I am no longer working with the people at Grant's Performance in the development of their twin turbo Viper. I understand that they have basically twin turbocharged the TNT engine (that the customer had brought to them to fix), and added new intake and exhaust. I don't think that it will be...
Bullwinkle:
It was not a personal attack on you or anyone else. I was just addressing your points with your words. I was trying to shed some light with facts about the Viper and DC.
Your comment about women's racing organizations has nothing to do with my reply. Of all of the driving schools...
Bullwinkle:
I guess you haven't seen some of my previous posts on this subject. First off, if you are looking for approval from a car mag, then so be it. But tell me this, how can the Viper beat the Z06 in every single category (including braking since the addition of ABS) and lose the title...
Hib:
Nothing personal, but did you get this comment from the chapter in the Corvette manual on "how to criticize the Vipers when you have nothing to show"? You guys need to let it go, and realize that the Viper was never developed to compete with Corvettes (and vice versa). I suppose that you...
Save your money on bolt-ons and invest in driving school lessons. You will be able to make dramatic improvements to your car's performance on the road race track or drag strips with better driving skills.
Hell, I know of bozo Viper owners that have bolt-on headers, exhaust and gears that...
There isn't a better car guy in the business than Bob Lutz. Anything that comes from him, you can take to the bank. He is a real diamond in the rough, in a world full of bean counters and people trying to justify their jobs with cars like the Aztec.
I am a big fan of Bob's (since he's the guy...
Ken:
It sounds like you are referring to racing buckets. I would totally agree with you if that is so. They are incredibly uncomfortable for daily use.
If you are comparing stock Vette seats to a Recaro or Cobra, I will beg to differ. These seats are 10 times more comfortable than any stock...
Thermo Tec
This stuff is very impressive in that you can chose to either wrap your headers with a tape that adheres to the header or you can use a product called Thermo-Flex exhaust jackets that can be slit for custom fit. The main benefit of this stuff over Jet Hot is that the temperatures...
Chris:
I ran into the exact same thing on my '85. I replaced the cat with a test pipe and ran with it for about 6 months (in combination with my 2 stage racing Flowmasters and headers. Needless to say, the sound was deafening. I removed the test pipe and replaced it with a hi-flow Random...
Art:
Good advice when it applies to high performance rotors. I have seen OE rotors warp like crazy under aggressive driving, and Corvette rotors are notorious for it. So you might not have any choice in turning the rotors, unless you replace them. Racing rotors don't have this problem...
You might want to check your brake lines for wear. This sounds like it could be solved with replacing stock lines with stainless steel lines.
E-brake should not be an issue because it is on the rear rotor and is mechanical. Your problems are probably with the fronts that take 80% of the load...
Re: Tires
Do that a few times and you'll definitely warp the rotors. Even when I bed a new set of pads, I don't go that fast. I think that you can probably getthe same effect trying to stop from 100 or even 80 mph.
One thing that you don't want to do is do this acome to a complete stop...
Tim:
I'm glad to be of assistance. Anything to keep these American beauties on the road (and to put a little fear into those European imports). ;) :D
Brad
Cheers back at you.:beer
Tim:
I hope that this will save you some time. Here is a link to Hunter's web site, where they have a locator for shops in your area:

Good luck and have a great weekend.

For most performance applications slotted is the preferred choice. Slotting helps wipe
away debris from between the pad and rotor as well as increasing the "bite" characteristics of the pad. A drilled rotor provides the same type of benefit, but is more susceptible to cracking under severe...
One stop from that speed on cold pads might give you these results. Heat will cause the rotor to distort, but should also cause a serious amount of fade.
Sorry, but you've now reached the limits to my technical knowledge. I would have a brake person take a look at your brakes if this persists...
