Need Air Conditioning help 82 vette

Saltydog: Noticed your comment about "airbox doors" . . . our 74 coupe has new compressor, dryer and fully charged system - -I can feel a small bit of cold air through the dash vents while in the garage, but once underway there's scorching hot air blowing on my feet - - am guessing I'm pulling...

    Adhesive for Air Cleaner gasket

Bill: I may be unclear about your question - - but the rubber gasket is attached to the ring that sits on top of the air cleaner - - the hood simply closes on top of it slightly compressing the gasket - - -it's not actually attached . . . there's no reason to do so. If I'm not interpreting your...

    corvette junk yards??

Check these folks out here in Phoenix - - it looks like "sun fading" wasn't the biggest problem for most of these vettes! Please past this into your browser: http://www.20thstreetauto.com/ CQRT in AZ

    Wiring Harness Resto or Replace?

My vote is with Red . . I cleaned up the tape on the original wiring-- or on individual wires themselves in the same manner-- then used tire foam or armor-all on the harness tape, wires-- even plug wires to restore some luster. I think this is truly an area where "if it's not broken . . " and...

    Floor Pan Paint

Dave: there are several posts about changing carpet and using reflectix as an insulator/sound deadner . . . in addition, several here seem to like a product called POR 15 - -it reportedly stops rust, seals and coats like a thick black paint. Good luck on your project. CQRT in AZ

Need Good Cover to Transport on Trailer

With all due respect to Mikey, I would respectfully suggest that more information is needed before a definitive reply can be made. Red, you say the body-off is complete, but it it bare, unprotected fiberglass? Are the windows in the vehicle? Mikey is absolutely correct, that oftentimes...

    How heavy is a 75

Door sticker on my 74 says GVWR is 4058 - -assume that's with the 450 lbs of passengers/cargo and without fluids/

Easy way to remove the hood

TONY: No question - - Robin is Da' Man . . scribe the hood and pull the bolts . . it's the only way to go. CQRT in AZ

    76 Sting Ray...worth it?

COLEY: Don't let your exuberance to get a Vette overwhelm your sense of logic. Patience is definitely a virtue. With all due respect, it would seem that the price is significantly too high - - probably by $3-4k. Either low-ball `em or keep walkin'. CQRT in AZ

    windage tray

Attaches to the bottom of the crank and keeps the oil from the pan from splashing on the crank-- commonly used with a deeper pan and a longer swinging pick-up. I may be mistaken, but I first recall it on the DZ block for the 69 Z-28. It became the rage for all us small block c-3 guys-- although...

    Barrett-Jackson Auction Prices

Vette-less- You just can't leave us old guys alone! In all honesty, I think it's probably middle aged, successful guys that can now afford to buy the toys their hard work has brought and these types of auctions are a great place to do it - - one of those "if you've got it- flaunt it" sort of...

How much should a '78 Run you?

I'd give it a tentative "thumbs up" . . with the exception of the snow storm 2 weeks ago, it doesn't seem like a NC car would have a great exposure to bad weather and as an earlier poster noted, it's not a steal, but from what you've described sounds fair. Post a pic or two if you can ! CQRT...

    CD Player Skips

You might also consider a different ( read $$$) CD changer-- the more advanced units buffer the sound so that any skips are re-read by the laser to fill in the gaps... it's about the only option I know for a rough riding vehicle. CQRT in AZ

    1973 front end

Scooter: A very tempting effort no doubt done during a repaint. the downside of the integrated fiberglass piece is that a minor nose injury holds the promise of requiring major repair! But front or rear, it makes for sleek lines and a great look. Too bad the technology didn't exist at the time...

    used car prices.

Hey Boss: As a former Buckeye, I sure do miss the seasons, but not the opportunity to drive the Vettes year-round . . . are those little `nads hangin' there under the bumper ? That's DEFINITELY not a barbie ! And Robin-- as a fellow `74 Vette owner, I bought it because it was a good value...

    tough choice

You've obviously done some good research and half the fun is looking, right? The people at Mcjacks were nice when I've spoken/e-mailed them, but I am concerned about the number of cars they have that all seem to be freshly painted black - - what do all these repaints hide and why always black...
