Ebay any good for tires & wheels?

I just ordered a set of ZR1 17" type chrome rims for my C4 (1986 vert) from Corvette Mike's out of California (www.corvettemikes.com). Had them in stock, shipped next day, good price, threw in the chrome air valves and got center caps and lug nut covers for half price. These fit my C4 with no...

State Farm's new way to screw you for more money

I added my 86 convertable to my state farm policy here in PA and it was $156 every six months full coverage on an agreed amount value. Couldn't ask for a better rate. I'd check around for another agent.

    1989 CONV EXHAUST

I put magnaflow on my 86 convert, no resonance and great sound. For a good price call the people at www.performancepeddler.com for a price. They can cut considerable off their web site price, had mine in two days.

Any good places for finding exhaust systems?

Have my stock system in front of the CAT back system (Stainless steel magnaflow, 1986 convertible). The old system came off with two bolts holding the Y pipe to the converter, one hanger bolt at about the Y connection. Had to remove the hangers in the back, one bolt each. New system went right...

    Coolant Temp

I have a 86 convertible that does almost the exact same thing, I consider it normal for now. Like previously stated your secondary fan should have kicked on and lowered temperature and you need to ensure your radiator is clean especially between the A/C condenser and radiator. These years...

Any good places for finding exhaust systems?

If you want perfomance peddlers lowest price you need to call them on the phone (1-800-470-1443). I'm sure they will trim some more off the price they advertise on the web. Very good people to deal with, they will give you they're lowest price for what you want, if they have it in stock for...

    Source for wheelwell liner screws

I had to buy some from a salvage yard about a year ago. Pricey to send a guy out to just get some screws. I might have some left over in the garage, how many would you need? and I'll take a look to see if I can find them. Gene

Any good places for finding exhaust systems?

I put on a stainless steel magnaflow cat back on my 86 convertible. Sounds great but not too loud, looks even better. Easy installation, took about 1 hour by myself in the garage on car ramps. I found this exhaust from www.performancepeddler.com (1-800-470-1443). You need to call them and get a...

    Knocking and a belt squealing

My first thought since it's on the right side of the engine is to check the idler pully and belt. (This would have nothing to do with running low on fuel). If the spring is bad or the bearing is bad and belt is old this could cause a "knocking noise" that could go away when you rev the engine...

    Engine Rattle

I had the exact same problem with the rattle when the AC kicked on that you are describing in my 86. Ended up being the bearing in the tensioner. Cost me $8 for a new bearing at NAPA (took the old one to them, they are just pressed in and out, and they matched numbers. Replaced the belt at the...

    Glue Recommendation

"gorilla glue" is the best glue I've ever used. Takes about 24 hours to fully set up but everything I've repaired with it is still together.

    oil change question or opinion

I put on about 3000 miles a year. I change my oil prior to winter storage with Mobil 1, I start it monthly and bring it up to temp over the winter, In the spring I change oil again with Mobil 1. Two oil changes a year is certainly cheaper than a new engine.

    84 stock corvette - 160* thermostat

Just because you install a lower temp thermostat doesn't mean your engine will run cooler. If you are currently running temps above your present thermostat setting it will continue to run that hot. The lower temp thermostat will only open at a lower temperature and the only thing it will...

    L-98 mufflers

Don't waste your money. I put on a complete stainless steel CAT BACK system (from the catalytic converter back, 2 1/2 pipes, two mufflers, all clamps and hardware and round 3" rolled tips for just over four hundred dollars delivered to the house. It is a magnaflow system and sounds good, not too...
