    Experienced opinion needed

I don't have any experience with hydraulic clutches in a big block or with C2's, but I installed one on my '62, with a 350 Ram Jet and a T56 6 speed. I used a master cylinder from an '84 corvette and an external slave cylinder made by a company named CNC ( bought it from a local NASCAR supply...

The 572 is going to see the light

Are the header flange openings actually "D" ports? Charles

The 572 is going to see the light

Are you using the large cap distributor that came with the engine? How did you "modify the distributor mounting position"? What other modifications did you make to the manifold? Charles

How to post parts on the new forum

Seems to working properly now. Since you now have a nice "form" to fill out when selling parts or vehicles, how about adding a line that requires a city, state location. I know I always look to see where something is located, especially a car. Charles

    WTB: C1 body

Wanted: 57-62 body. Do not need engine, transmission, suspension, interior, gauges, top, bumpers or trim. Do not need title. Doors, hood, trunk lid, soft top lid, and windshield frame would be nice but not necessary. Condition of body is not too important as long as it is repairable. Charles

    59 radiator support

jose: I have a couple of pictures of a 59 core support that I can emil to you; however they do not show much detail. Do you have an Assembly Manual (AIM)? There are some pictures in the AIM that illustrate much better how the sheet metal on the bottom of the support is formed. Email me and I...

December 2006: The Web of Deception

Obviously to sell magazines. I have been a Car and Driver subscriber for almost 40 years and I am still waiting for the mid engine Corvette that they have been prophesying over the years. One of the biggest frauds ever perpertrated by a car magazine has to be Car and Driver's road test...

power window kits for C1? need comments....

Herb: I am using the Specialty Power Windows kit in my '59 but the cost was more that $135. As vette said, it bolts right in where the old mechanical regulators were, but in my car it was a really tight fit. You MUST follow the directions closely in order to get them in place. The SPW kit...

    C1 SUSPENSION UPGRADE

I am not familiar with the Flat Out modification, but I added C4 suspension to my wife's 62. ( www.carols62.com ) I copied the Newman (Car Creations) conversion and have about 25,000 miles on mine. I am now working on a '59 and I am using a new frame which has provision for bolting on C4...

    Wiring up Painless Harness

And speaking of unused wires, you might be tempted to remove wires that you think you will never use - don't. You might decide later to add a fan for a transmission cooler, electric fuel pump, or a line lock. Charles

    Wiring up Painless Harness

Are you asking what circuits should have relays? I would definitely use relays on the headlights, especially if you are using the original switch or lamps that are higher wattage than stock. Electric fan also, if you have one. I use an EZ Wiring aftermarket wiring kit and used relays on the...

    C1 Cowl shake

Larry: I haven’t noticed any cowl shake but I haven’t tried your “test” either. One thing you may need is something more dense to use as body mount cushions. I used 3M Wet or Dry Rubber Squeegee pads, part #05517. They are a very dense black plastic material and will compress very little. These...

What makes for a nervous ride.

Rich and Larry: The hub was ordered from Corvette Central. There were absolutely no markings on it anywhere to indicate the manufacturer (probably from China). I sent pictures to CC and they graciously gave me a $50 gift certificate. The bearings were tight, I checked them before we left for...

What makes for a nervous ride.

Two years ago at Carlisle, driving my wife's '62 conversion car with C4 suspension, we had just pulled off the Interstate and were turning onto College Street doing maybe 10 mph. Heard a lod "pop' and the car stopped immediately. The right front bearing hub snapped in two. It was the only...

hurray My Barry Grant six shooter is finally in

Stepinwolf: What are you using for an intake manifold on the 572? Are you having to use spacers? Have you fired up your 572 yet? I think I posted this somewhere a few months back, but my 572/620 arrived with one pushrod from the 720hp version - about 0.5" too long. I caught it when I was...

    59 with power folding top

Mark: My 59 came with a power top (in boxes) and I decided not to put it back on the car. The going rate for the power top pieces seems to be around $2000-$2500. If you decide not to buy the '59 I might be interested. Let me know. Charles

WTB: 17" Wagonwheels in or near NC

Wanted to buy: Wagonwheels. I need a total of four 17" wheels, no 18" wheels needed. Condition of finish is not important as long as the wheels are true. No pressure sensors or tires wanted. Would prefer to find some wheels in or near North Carolina to avoid shipping. Charles

    C-1 VIN problem

I thought the '60 VIN tag was attached to the door jamb with screws and moved to the steering column in '61. Charles

There are still cars out there for sale

Larry: Certainly sounds like he is ready to sell. If you get some pictures send them to me. I might be interested if the price isn't too high. Been emailing a guy in Massachusetts about a '60 but this one would be a little closer, assuming that this guy is close to you. Where is the car...
