Herb:
I don't think you need to worry about body clearance near the bracket that Barry has circled in red. The fiberglass turns up rather sharply just in front of that point.
I would, however, be careful of the location of the panard rod bracket that attaches to the frame. There is not much...
Herb:
When you get everything tack welded together, raise and lower the rear end through it's entire range of motion and check to see if there is any substantial lateral movement.

First off I am not a suspension guru, but the location of the panard rod strikes me as being not as optimum as it could be. It's hard to tell from the picture alone but I'm guessing the panard rod is about 26" long and the vertical distance between the ends is about 4". Using this...
As Stan said, you probably need to turn the amperage up some. Also you might try some 7014 rod (also known as contact rod) which has a special coating that lets you drag (contact) the end of the rod against the work piece and the flux on the rod maintains the proper arc spacing.

I am using a similar type of frame bracket with the Energy Suspension urethane motor mounts on my '59 big block project. In my case I used a 1/2" grade 8 bolt to fasten the two together. If I remember correctly I had to "expand" the hole in the urethane mounts slightly in order to...

I haven't been to the regional since it was moved to Old Town so I don't know what the parking situation is like. Just look for a fawn beige '62 with a white hardtop and an NC license plate, should be the only one there.

It is a stock speedometer that I painted white. For the black lettering I first attempted to remove the white paint from an old lens, but I found that it was almost impossible to remove ALL of the old paint. At Carlisle last year I found a vendor that would paint your old speedometer white for...
I can remember the first Corvette that I ever rode in - a 59 fuelie. In my opinion, the big speedometer adds just the finishing touch to the classic look of the car. Here is a picture of my cluster (as yet unpainted) with Autometer gauges.

I am using a filter top on the 850CFM Demon carb on my project. When I was designing the hood scoop I asked K&N technical what clearance I should have over the top and I was told that 1" was recommended and that if you went less than 0.5" you may as well not use the filter top. Probably...
OK, while the audio subject is being discussed, I have some old tapes (reel to reel) that I would like to convert to MP3 format. My computer has a Soundmax Integrated Digital Audio card. I assume that I will have to send the output from the tape deck through the sound card to be converted. Will...
Very creative and unique. I'm sure your dad will love it.
When you say you built it, did you actually cast the body or is it available commercially? I take it from your post that there is also a frame available. Where could I purchase these items? What did you use for the "chrome" paint?

Just wondering if anyone has put a front spoiler/air dam on a C1? Looking for ideas regarding shape, materials, and method of attaching (is it removable?). Any pictures would be appreciated.

I have a modified steering column in my wife's '62. The column does not protrude into the engine compartment enough to attach the VIN tag there, so I attached it to the column under the dash.

Ditto's on all the comments on your car. Beautiful work. You need a TIG welder to...
1984 Z51 Corvette body, frame, engine, 4+3 trans. No suspension, most of interior is missing. Body and frame never damaged. $3500 or offers. Pictures available at: http://www.carols62.com/84/
Larry:
Right now I'm waiting for some warmer weather so I can put some primer on it and do some final sanding before I make a fiberglass mold.
I thought about adding some "compartments" to the hood scoop opening to make it look sort of like the front of a C1 with the two (fake) air vent...
Here are a few vendors that can help. Never used any of them so I can't make a recommendation.

Also check ebay.
If you have a tach connection on your distributor you should be able to just connect it to the input on the...
If you are handy with tools you can convert your old mechanical tach to electric for less than $100. If not, some of the speedometer/gauge repair shops sell electric tachometers that look like the originals.

I did something similar on a '62. I did it basically as you described by locating the engine where it is supposed to be with the motor mounts attached and then welding the mounting brackets to the frame. Any good shop should be able to fabricate some mounting brackets, that way you can be...
