I have to agree with Doug on this.. A good flush and bleed to get any air out. Because what you are describing is "normally" a symptom of air in the lines. A bad vacuum (assist) booster normally makes the pedal "harder."

NEVER disconnect the POSITIVE first. You "can" activate the airbag and/or damage other electronic components if you should cause an "ARC." ALWAYS disconnect the ground (black cable)first and re-connect the ground LAST! Ground cable is FIRST OFF and LAST ON! ALWAYS!

What does seem to work every time is to remove the battery terminals and replace them. The car works again. If you don't mind reprogramming ALL your settings, just disconnect the ground cable from the battery. Should you NOT want to have to reprogram all those settings, use a Battery Tender. I prefer the tender myself. But to each their own.

If the cables are tight and NOT getting too technical; Put a voltmeter across the battery. If it falls on it's face when you go to crank it......It sounds like it's "Battery Time." The starter pulls a lot more "juice" than accessories.
